Projector Cabinet

The final design aims to be highly multifunctional to serve the needs of the target market, with potential use as a: projector cabinet, standing desk, lectern and storage item. The top piece of the unit can be separated into two and placed on the slide-out storage, to create enough space for a projector and laptop, or facilitate use as a desk

Separating the top section creates a rim, ensuring the projector cannot fall off. Cut outs in the top allow wire management to the integrated extension cable

Projector Cabinet The top can be raised using a manual height adjustment mechanism, ensuring the cabinet can be used in rooms with different screen heights with various projectors. The three diamond shapes on either side (concealed in the side of the unit) can be rotated to reveal cables and dongles required for projector use.

The unit has no handles or systems that have to be gripped, so it is suitable for those with permanent disabilities affecting the hands, or temporary ones such as a broken finger. The unit can easily be moved around using the four main castors. The unit has dimensions of 500mm x 500mm x 950mm when the slide out storage is fully recessed inside the unit

As part of the process, we were asked to design a brand for our product. The branding takes its name for the Haitian word for ‘one’, representing the unit having many functions in one product. Through the charity OneTreePlanted, every product will plant twelve trees in Haiti, supporting local farmers and protecting their crops from the many natural hazards present in the country. It will also help form farming cooperatives.

This will offset the carbon footprint of the product, thus making it more sustainable
