The area between the redand-yellow flags is patrolled by lifeguards. This is the safest place to swim, bodyboard and use inflatables.

The area between black-and-white chequered flags is a designated area for watersports such as surfing and kayaking. Never swim or bodyboard here. The orange windsock means there are offshore winds. Never use an inflatable when you see the sock flying as the wind could push you offshore very quickly.

The red flag indicates that it is dangerous to swim or get in the water. Never go in the water when the red flag is flying.

Eddy Wall Light - By Tom Raffield

"Bring the feeling of the Cornwall coast inside."

Looking out to the world-famous surfing beach Fistral, the Esplanade lounge has panoramic views that are truly unforgettable, so when it came to give the lounge a little refresh, inspiration wasn’t hard to find. When designing the new concept, Creative Director Gayle Nettleton embraced the light and bright surroundings of The Esplanade to bring the feeling of the Cornwall coast inside. A palette of refreshingly cool blue hues, with a touch of lighter tones to reflect the sandy playground that we call our own, alongside new subtle modern touches, truly encases the feeling of our beachside rooted location.

Working with local designers to include Tom Raffield alongside sourcing local materials from Cornish timber yards is what makes the light, bright and natural tones partnered with the blue and green colours, reflective of the ocean, work so well together.

"Using products manufactured locally where possible, for example the Tom Raffield lights, the sweet chestnut table tops hand picked from a local timber supplier and the beautiful glass artwork by a local designer completely enhances the scheme. I’m delighted with the finish and hope to provide an inviting cool and comfortable area for guests to relax and enjoy our spectacular views.”
