Exercise 2 - Emerging Patterns
I have picked a leaf pattern as my pattern studying element.
A series of tests are done with the Y-shape in terms of what it can bring in terms of form and structural-wise.
Throughout the exploration of this stem pattern, I have discovered the Y-shape within the stem system.
I have understand that the Y- shape can be used as a element in forming different types of polygon. In terms of adding a series of depth towards my pattern form, I have chosen hexagons, and developing my Y-shapes into hexagons.
By saying the Y-shape, I am referring to the way the stem splitting from 1 into 2, multiplying itself. I have set this structure as my designing base element/component.
After a few sketches and drawings, I have develop Y-shapes into not only hexagons, but a beehive structure, just to show what Y-shapes can do when it comes to forming different patterns, and also it is an experiment of playing with rotations of patterns.

Exercise 2 - Emerging Patterns
For further development, I then started to play with not only rotations of patterns, but also the level/height of patterns.

I have decided to rise the centre point of my model, for me to add more depth in terms of level in my model and theory. By rising my model, I then result in a oval-like of shape of hexagons that are originally formed by Y-shapes. In these photos, I have tested them in terms of effects that they bring when facing different light directions.

Exercise 2 - Emerging Patterns Precedent Studies: These are some of the works by Big, a Denmark Architecture Company. They have different tests of patterns and forms in their Architectural Design. Within their ideas, the Y-shape take a lot of places as it gives a really dynamic effect when building reacts to lights. This is another upside that the Y-shape brings in forming patterns.
