index My methodology is generally based upon two concepts: uniqueness of the concept and the notion of processuality. I consider the last one particularly important, because I believe it is the architect’s duty to study and represent the development and history of (built) spaces. I like to think that opening up the horizon of architecture
towards other sciences and arts is the key to keeping it the main discipline of building our future. This booklet contains projects mostly elaborated during my studies at the universities of Vienna (UT Vienna) and Gothenburg (Chalmers UT).

(re)ruined appiano The projects elaborates scenarios of evolution for an disused military site in the municipality of Appiano, south of Bolzano (Italy). Starting from the structure of the facility and investigating transformation processes that already take place, a simulation of three urban mutations was made: decomposition of the existent, opening of the

More than a masterplan, a morphological plan, capable to integrate the site into the building texture of the town, as well as into the surrounding cultural landscape of hills and vinyards.

fashion incubator The program asks for a multiuse-structure that connects two street-levels with a public walkway and provides temporary (5 years) living and working space for young fashion designers and their starting businesses. In direct neighborhood of the city’s famous “fishcurch”-landmark, the proposal adds a “explicitly contemporary
18
“ steel-frame, that houses a public panorama-lift as well as holding pavilion-like ETFE-cushion cladded bubbles that house the temporary program. The both are tied together by a fine steel-mesh, giving an architectural expression to fashion design, that works of the relationship between body (structure) and and wrapping (mesh).

fondazione jodice Museum for the works of Mimmo Jodice in the historic center of Naples (Italy). Honoring the respect and love of the photographer for his home city, the proposal reactivates a 17th century house (in bad structural condition but prominent location and full of stories) conserving it as much as
28
possible. The public entrance is set on the main street “Spaccanapoli and leads the visitor into a mini-Naples: courtyards, narrow alleys, a wide piazza. The intervention consists of a robotic concrete structure that reanimates and conserves the old, adding a new, contemporary layer to it.

living, now: density! Study of suburban high density housing typologies in Vienna (Austria). The idea is to develop a single concept for different housing typologies and user-groups. Based on the intent to give equal daylight-quality to all appartments, a hybrid form is created to
38
contain and connect the various typologies, also through carefully designed ground-floor zone. The project is elaborated with a high degree of detail, and accurate consideration of state of the art technology in energy efficiency and building services.

vienna polyclinic The polyclinic as a typology to revisit: studying connections between formation, research and practice considering the necessary (structural) flexibility imposed by the rapidly changing requirements in the world of modern medical technology. Starting from the different types of access to the build-
46
ing and internal circulation and considering structural and programmatic change, a modular system was developed to collocate the functions into a “skelleton of accesibility. This infrastructure is made in reinforced concrete, covered with a (un)foldable roof structure of steel and glass.

ways of movement Masterplan for the development of a disused railway - area in the city of Purkersdorf, at the gates of Vienna (Austria). The proposal creates a new district along the railway lines that connects the various centers of the town, as well as aumenting the external connections by the creation of a new train station. The station and other pub-
54
lic functions are grouped around a central piazza, beeing the starting point of movement by means of both circulation and structural orientation. A green neighborhood with focus on soft mobility and combinig peacful suburbia with a perfect connection to the workplaces of the city.
