T han ks to an ongoing year-anda-ha l f exp erience, I was a ble to discover a new branch o f A rchite c t ure: Retail design. I’m curren t ly working for a familyconduc ted Company from Turin t ha t has be en expanding it s concept o f co f fe e shops, on a worldwide sca le, in t he la test years. Since 2009, Ca f fè Vergnano star ted t he am bit io us process to increase Brand awareness t hro ugh t he const ruc t ion o f branded co f fe e shops, which can re crea te t he heritage cult ure and t he warm a t mosphere o f t he Company. I joined t his philosophy, cha llenging mysel f in a brand new proje c t ing sca le: from first dra f t s o f concept ua l phase to exe cut ive drawings, from produc t ion processes to insta lla t ion leveraging on ex terna l suppliers and co lla bora tors. Em bracing t his ac t ivity, I’ve st rongly increased my skills in proje c t managemen t, acco un t ing wit h clien t s and dire c t ing sites aro und t he world. Joining CRA let me ta ke par t in one o f t he most ta len ted design teams aro und t he st udio. Leveraging t his opp or t unity, I increased my ca pa bilit ies in developing workf low and design. T he most meaningful proje c t I worked for has be en re cen t ly revea led: BI GBjarke Ingels G ro up and Carlo Ra t t i teamed up to crea te one o f Singa p ore's ta llest b uildings, a t t he hear t o f Singa p ore's b usiness dist ric t. T he com bina t ion o f t he two archite c t ure st udios t ransformed t he sele c ted site, previo usly occupied by a parking st ruc t ure, in a 280-meter b uilding which will include plen t i ful gre ener y bo t h on it s facades and in terna lly. I go t invo lved bo t h in to t he ana lysis and iden t i fica t ion o f t he b uilding's skin and in t he set t ing o f t he urban area in fron t t he main en t rance, to genera te a ugmen ted daily conne c t ions wit h cit izens.

T his pro to typ e was designed for t he Europ ean S o lar D e ca t hlon Championship. T he re gula t ion provides to design a 100% self-suf ficien t residen t ia l b uilding which co uld easily be b uilt on site, in an as chea p as p ossible way, wit h t he 90% o f ma teria ls t ha t co uld be re cy cled a t t he end o f t heir li fe. O ur team prop osa l was a simple st ruc t ure which required t he lowest n um ber o f elemen t s and a t t he same t ime bro ugh t t he maximum pro formances in terms o f energy ef ficency, cost s and st rengt hs. In t he first phase o f design, we run severa l ana lisys using so f twares such as Casanova, Envimet and G rasshopp er, simulat ing di f feren t enviromen t s and sit ua t ions, in order to st udy t he righ t sha p e and ma teria l for t he so lar irradia t ion, and a lso wind dire c t ions. T he se cond step was to proje c t t he pro to typ e choosing a ll na t ura l materia ls, a lso for insula t ion (wood

fiber, hamp fiber), and to veri fy t heir p er formances, using T hermus G and Casanova so f tware, t r ying to reach t he most imp or tan t goa l o f t he S o lar D e ca t hlon Championship: 0 o f t herma l t rasmission. T he big roo f o ut lines vario us benefit s, in fac t, t han ks to it s design, it can provide shadow during t he ho t test ho urs o f t he day, I t has 120

m2 o f so lar pannels and redire c t s t he wind, be coming a p ower ful passive coo ler. T he workshop consisted in learning how to crea te mud bricks, design t he ba ker y basing t he proje c t on t he workers re quest s, and a lso crea t ing a typica l para bolic oven which improves t he qua lity o f t he fina l produc t. O ur team goa l was to crea te a place which benefit s improve t he qua lity o f itd in ha bitan t s, esp e cia ly y o ung p e ople, teaching t hem a new e conomy, based on micro-credit. T he ba ker y has fo ur rooms: 1) Cooking room 2) Wareho use 3) Shop 4) O ven room.
