Should You List Your Home During the Holidays?

Many people will take their home off of the market during this time, which leaves a fantastic opportunity to really stand out from your competition. With fewer homes available for sale, your home will receive more attention. With a reduced number of listings and condensed inventories, you’ll have more buyers’ agents that want to show your home to their clients. Additionally, many people that list their home during the holidays find that they receive better attention not only from agents, but lenders, appraisers, title companies, and home inspectors. Those professionals aren’t as busy this time of year either. In addition to having fewer homes for sale, there are also fewer buyers. But don’t let that overly concern you. Buyers who are shopping for a home during the holidays tend to be more motivated. These buyers are serious, and you’re less likely to be contacted by those that are “only looking.” Plus, with many families having vacation days and time off work, it’s a great opportunity for typically busy people to find time for house hunting. We have another advantage here in our market. Many of our neighbors, as well as homeowners from across the city, entertain out-of-town houseguests for the holidays. What a great opportunity to present your home to people that may very likely decide (or have already decided) to move here! Lastly, isn’t your home always beautiful and inviting during the holidays? You’ve cleaned and decorated and put on all the finishing touches indoors and out. Having potential buyers view your home during this warm and welcoming season allows them to better picture their own family life in the appealing environment you’ve created.

REAL E S TAT E

OF THE SEASON

This holiday season may be particularly stressful for many Valley households, as many families have been hit hard in the pocketbook by the pandemic’s economic consequences. If you’ve ever “adopted” a family in years past, you know the joy your generosity brings not only to the household you’re helping, but also for you. It’s a pleasure to make another family’s holidays bright, and giving to our less fortunate neighbors is one of the easiest ways to add some genuine love and joy into your season too.

They’ve been able to provide gifts and groceries to over 250 families each year! You’ll purchase gifts from the family’s wish lists, add a $50 grocery gift card, wrap and label the gifts, and deliver your packages to be distributed to the families. SaveTheFamily.org

There are several opportunities to help our Valley neighbors. Generally, you’ll be responsible for providing a holiday meal and gifts for the children and household members. There are even adopt-a-senior programs to bring some joy to seniors that may not have family or friends to share the holiday with. Here are a few organizations to get you started. Don’t delay in signing up though, they need time to assign a family to you and the items you’ll purchase are typically due to the organization by mid-month.

Looking for a serene and peaceful experience this time of the year? Butterfly like, and capture the moments when the butterflies awaken in the quiet morning setting. Or just surround yourself with the timeless beauty of these magical winged creatures as they begin their day. Space is limited for social distancing. Masks required. Ages 18 and up. Pre-registration is required.

If your vehicle runs on electric juice, you’ll soon have two more options for charging up across Scottsdale. The City of Scottsdale and the Arizona Public Service (APS) utility are going to install two additional electric car charging stations at city facilities in Old Town Scottsdale’s One Civic Plaza and the city’s north operations campus at 9191 E. San Salvador Drive.

INTERACTIVE ART Now through December 31st, Canal Convergence at the Scottsdale Waterfront will display Information Flow, an interactive light sculpture representing the hidden digital network of communication that surrounds us. The installation stretches 200 feet across the Arizona Canal and has six interactive pressure pads along the canal banks. When a pad activates, it sends a pulse of light which travels on to the artwork’s central information tower, where it is processed and redistributed through a light-sequence performance. December

Well, it’s not such a crazy idea after all. Consider this: Year in and year out, the real estate market begins to slow after Halloween and doesn’t start picking up again until late January. In fact, it’s not unheard of for home sales to be down 30% or so from December to January.

Shopping, entertaining, parties, decorating the house, charity work, and so much more. For many of us, the holidays are already overloaded with seasonal obligations. Who in their right mind would add “sell house” to their already busy list?
