ShopBot Creates The Handibot When it comes to all the companies out there relying on tools for business, the promotion of new computer numerically controlled routers is like Christmas morning. ShopBot has launched their Handibot which is a portable version of the massive routers; it is essentially like comparing a milk carton to a car. The overall weight of their new handheld CNC router is about 30 pounds which makes it a diligent device. “We feel like we have created a universal platform that others will build upon,” commented Dave Bryan, the man who led the creative team, “If someone wants to develop a gig or an accessory, they don’t have to reverse engineer the Handibot. They take all my work that is public and go from there.” The company’s founder, Ted Hall, stated that any adjustments to this machine will come from the users and that was the overall goal. Which makes sense; because it shows the company is listening to their customers which in turn will help them create a flawless piece of machinery. Last year, the company grossed $8 million in revenue and they expect to exceed $10 million this year without the sales of the Handibot. The recession took a hard toll on ShopBot productions, and Hall hopes that this release will help them get back to where they were before, and even exceed the expectations.
