WVU Football Program Reorganizing Coaching Staff
After rumors began dropping that West Virginia’s defensive coordinator, Keith Patterson, would be leaving to take a job at Arizona State, head coach, Dana Holgorsen has been scrambling to find a replacement. Patterson was only with the Mountaineers for two years, and his reason behind leaving was his long relationship with Arizona State’s head coach. As former teammates at East Central University and co-coaches at Pitt and Tulsa, Todd Graham of ASU and Patterson have a long history. Right now, Holgorsen is trying to do damage control within his coaching staff. So, how’s the damage control going? Nine assistants have either been let go, or left after Patterson’s departure. The 2014 season is proving to be the final trial period for Holgorsen as he’s working to not only replace his defensive coordinator, but also his cornerback coaches and another
interim defensive coordinator. Ever since WVU joined the Big 12 two years ago, winning and luck haven’t exactly been in their favor. The upcoming season for the Mountaineers is going to be a very big test to see if they can compete at the Big 12 level, as well as being able to stay healthy and in-shape throughout the season. During 2013, the defensive line for WVU began dropping like flies midway through due to injuries, thus we say – stay healthy Mountaineers.
