MÁS receives 9 national print publication awards
Atlanta — he National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP), an organization comprised of the largest Hispanic publications in the United States, announced the 2008 winners of the José Martí Publishing Awards, honoring excellence in Hispanic print media. More than 500 entries were received and, in a day-long session, a distinguished panel of judges reviewed the materials to determine the winners. The judging was held in New York and was sponsored by McGraw-Hill. Clara Padilla, president of the NAHP, said, “All of our organization’s members demonstrate excellence in print media which is evident by the growth in circulation and membership.” She added, “This year’s winners of the José Martí Awards are the best of the best and we applaud them for their excellence and challenge all our members to strive for excellence daily.” MÁS took home awards in nine print categories for circulation under 30,000: Hispanic Success Leonel Martínez, “Remembering Dad” SILVER Cultural Article Luz Peña, “For the Love of la Isla” BRONZE Entertainment Article Matt Muñoz, “Leaders of the Pack” GOLD Business Article Lauren Helper, “All in the Family” GOLD Lauren Ziegeler, “Blooming with Smiles” SILVER Community Photo “Órale, George” By Roger Hornback GOLD “Dolores Huerta’s Birthday” by Lydia Gonzales SILVER Cultural Photo “Dancing with Dad” by Lydia Gonzales GOLD “A Healing Nature” by Lydia Gonzales SILVER
