Mauricio Garay Cid

An experimental and innovative guitarist & composer from Chile-Sweden. He manipulates freely by suing on, rebuild and prepare traditional string instrument from South America, as his latest invention the string instrument Vihuela Andina based on the old Spanish Baroque Vihuela and Charango. The 10 String guitar is his main instrument where Mauricio Garay Cid constantly find new worlds of sound from a pianistic and orchestral approach to the guitar. He has developed a style all its own, where he subtly and balanced weaves flamenco, contemporary western classical music with various folk music traditions from South America. Mauricio Garay Cid plays his own works both as a soloist and in various ensembles. He has played with; Ensemble Mishra, Quarttango, Sigma Trío, Richard Ekre Suzzi, David Kuckhermann, Dead Can Dance, Arja Saijonmaa inter alia.
