Landon joined Maverick Region in 2016; he owns a 2010 911 (997.2) Cabriolet. He became the region’s Volunteer Chair in 2018, starting a volunteer registration database to collect and organize information about members who were interested in different types of events, so that they could be notified when a certain event needed volunteer assistance. Members can fill out the volunteer form at https://www.mavpca.org/volunteer to get involved.

As part of the Volunteer Chair responsibilities, Landon also named the Maverick of the Month winners, recognizing people who had made out-of-the-ordinary contributions to the region for a given month. The typical Mav of the Month award was a gift card to a particular restaurant, but when that restaurant closed, he began awarding Amazon gift cards to the recipients, as well as unique Maverick-logo baseball caps that were not available elsewhere.

To recognize long-time repeat volunteers, he came up with neon green Volunteer T-shirts with the Maverick Region logo on the front and the PCA National Volunteer logo on the back, along with the term “Pit Crew.” Landon has recruited scores of volunteers over the years, but the largest single volunteer group was 15 for the 2022 Concours at Grapevine Lake, which arrived early Sunday morning to get the event set up before cars began arriving.

Landon’s two sons, Corbin (age 16 and now driving) and Brady (age 14) are both PCA Juniors, joining in 2018 and 2019 when the program started. Landon also Co-Chaired Maverick’s PCA Juniors program in 2020, and Brady was the PCA Juniors Ambassador that year as well, writing a quarterly article for Slipstream called “PCA Porsche Playground.”

Landon has decided to step down from the Volunteers Chair role, so please join us in congratulating Landon as our well-deserved Mav of the Month!

The Maverick of Month recognizes one member of the club each month for exemplifying what it means to be a Maverick. Volunteers, Board of Director Chairs and Members at Large going out of their way to give back and lead are the backbone of our club. Winners receive our undying thanks, and a $75 gift card provided by Autobahn Porsche. Do you know someone that embodies what it means to be a Maverick? Nominate them for the Maverick of the Month! volunteers@mavpca.org
