FINNISH PAVILION Exhibtion pavilion For Dubai Expo 2020 Done with XYZ Designers

Finland is a Northern European country, bordering Sweden, Norway and Russia. Country’s landscape is covered mostly by taiga forests and lakes.Of the total area 10% are lakes, rivers and pounds, and 78% forest. The forested landscape of Finland is dotted with patches of water - or, in some areas, vice versa - so numerous they have earned Finland the nickname “the land of the thousand lakes”. Water is a very important element for the Finns. Here, not only the homes, but also millions of saunas and cosy cottages are located close to the water. The green forests and the blue lakes became synonymous with the Finnish national landscape. The most famous industry in Finland is wood, paper, metal and technology.Metal and forest are two dominated sectors in Finland’s industry Project Done with : XYZ Designers https://www.xyzdesigners.com/finnish-pavilion

17

EXPO THEME IS: CONNECTING MINDS, CREATING THE FUTURE

Make a step out of concrete offices and apartments, from the busy days, and come to nature, enjoy its beaty, simplicity and healing power. Take the insperation and life force Finnish soul has always been linked with the Forest. The finnish people value and use the nature Gifts at their daily life. Wood are widely used in the country’s industry along with the Metal.

The main idea is to create several masses to represent the islands in Finland and the spaces will represent the water and the lakes. People will move from mass to mass walking through the natural paths The industry of the metal and the technology in Finland will be represented by a High-Tech cover that will be on the whole land covering all units. This cover could stay or be reused in any place to create sociable space for the people to interact and communicate.

MATERIAL CONCEPT 19 % of Finland Industry come from forest 39 % of Finland Industry come from Metal We decided to keep the finnish tradition and combine both Wood and Metal for the Exhibition pavilion concept to represent finland at Expo Dubai 2020

19

Finnish components and materials played an important role in the design of the pavilion. The material of the walls of pavilion unit will be bult with a wooden pattaern taken from the wood workshop. THE WOOD WILL BE USED AGAIN AFTER THE EXPO, BECAUSE FINNISH PEOPLE ARE FAMOUS FOR RECYCLE
