LOOKS FOR FALL VOL. 2 ISSUE 1 | OCTOBER 2014

from the editor Sometimes a reason for change is only skin deep. Fashion is material, but it can and does produce great things. We at KRNL strive to inspire positive change in the community, but we do it with a nod towards chic. Behind our glamorous photographs and look books is a story about innovation. KRNL writer Sarah Brookbank delves into the sometimes unglamorous world of sustainable living (p. 28) and pulls from it ideas about how to bring sustainability to your own life. The trend of the season also trending worldwide – we’re taking it back to basics. Tracing to the source of goods is key to sustainability. Eat sustainably by buying from the farmer’s market. Live sustainably by recycling. Dress sustainably by buying local. All of the looks you see in this issue are from local shops. Why not check out the clothing right down the street? Whether you’ve grown up in Lexington or you’ve just moved here, we Wildcats all have one thing in common – our roots are here. UK is our home. And by living sustainably, we’re not only helping the environment, we’re helping the Big Blue community. We’re embracing the change. Will you?
