Mayo Performing Arts Center’s 22nd Annual [Virtual] Starlight Ball
What the World Needs Now
Friday, October 23, 2020
A well-deserved standing ovation to
Mayo Performing Arts Center! Thank you for continuing to be the region’s shining star for the arts. Vicki and Tom Malone
Welcome to the Starlight Ball! Dear Friends, Thank you for joining us for Mayo Performing Arts Center’s 22nd Starlight Ball! While tonight may look and feel a little different than our previous galas, this fundraising event has never been more important. These past seven months have been challenging for MPAC. Even though we can now open at an extremely limited capacity, there’s still a long and difficult road ahead before we can once again bring you the fully staged productions we all know and love. Until then, we are thrilled to bring that excitement into your home with tonight’s Starlight Ball. Tonight we celebrate MPAC’s incredible diverse performances and arts education programs. Your support is imperative to our ability to remain the region’s premier center for the arts, now, and in the future. MPAC is facing the most difficult financial challenge in its history. The future of the performing arts in our community is at stake. A thriving MPAC is essential to a thriving local community and economy. Much like 26 years ago when the community took it upon themselves to give this theater a chance, we need you, the most dedicated supporters imaginable, to give it renewed life. Please give from your heart. We need your support more than ever to help us continue our education programs and provide us with resources we’ll need to safely reopen. As always, we are grateful to all of our numerous Diamond, Sapphire, Gold and Star Sponsors for their generous support, and to our amazing Starlight Ball Co-Chairs, Committee and staff members for their hard work in putting this unique and exciting event together. For generations, this extraordinary theatre has celebrated good times and risen above dark periods, but only with the help of an incredible community. Your support tonight helps to sustain MPAC as a viable state anchor performing arts institution and gathering place now and into the future…..the show must go on! Thank you so much for your generosity. Enjoy this special (virtual) Starlight Ball. We will see you at the theatre soon! Warm Regards,
Allison Larena President and CEO
Greg Supron Chairman, Board of Trustees
what we do tonight What we do tonight is to try to keep The wonder of the performing arts alive; What we do tonight may not cure the stricken; Nor fill the bellies of a starving people; Nor send the ghetto child to camp; What we do tonight might... just might... in a time of special need Lift the spirits of a dying man Or feed the soul of a woman who’s lost her faith Or fill a small child’s heart with inspiration. What we do tonight may not save lives, but What we do tonight can make those lives just a little more worth living. Bud Mayo 1986
