Honoring Wendy Aresty Starlight Award
John T. Cunningham Award
Welcome to the Starlight Ball! There’s magic in the air tonight! Thank you for joining us for our 25th Anniversary Starlight Ball. Tonight is a “magical moment” for all of us to celebrate Mayo Performing Arts Center, our honorees, ADP and Wendy Aresty, and to support our mission. The Starlight Ball is our largest fundraiser of the year. It is also the social event we most look forward to each season. Every year, we are thankful for your overwhelming support. So many of you have given from the heart, and continue to give, because you believe in what MPAC means to our community. Tonight, we celebrate two wonderful honorees. ADP is being honored with the Starlight Award. ADP has been a long-time corporate supporter of MPAC. ADP has been the primary sponsor of our Community Engagement programs that include our free Arts in Community concerts, which showcase diverse local artists to engage community members of all ages and backgrounds. We thank Tara Albritton, ADP Senior Vice President, HCM Services, who also serves as a valued member of MPAC’s Board of Trustees, for ADP’s enthusiastic support every year. Wendy Aresty is being honored tonight with the John T. Cunningham Award for outstanding service to MPAC. Many of you know Wendy — she is a true treasure. Wendy has not only been a past member of the MPAC Board of Trustees, and a co-chair of many of our Starlight Balls, but she has personally designed so many of the beautiful centerpieces at our tables for our Starlight Balls, including this evening’s! She is the perfect example of someone whose dedication and support of MPAC knows no boundaries. Wendy’s philanthropy extends beyond MPAC to many other vital organizations here in the Morristown area. Thank you to our numerous Diamond, Sapphire, Gold and Star Sponsors for your generous support for this evening’s event, and to our amazing Starlight Ball Co-Chairs, Committee and staff members for their hard work in putting this exciting event together. Thank you to the early visionaries of what The Community Theatre could be. Thank you to the many people that believed in that vision and all of those whom made it happen — “The Little Theatre That Could.” Thank you to EVERYONE who had a part in this — big or small — and who continue to create a legacy and a haven of artistic expression that brings joy to a grateful public. Well Done!

What We Do Tonight What we do tonight is to keep The wonder of the performing arts alive; What we do tonight may not cure the stricken; Nor fill the bellies of a starving people. What we do tonight might... just might... in a time of special need Lift the spirits of a dying man Or feed the soul of a woman who’s lost her faith Or fill a child’s heart with inspiration. What we do tonight may not save lives, but What we do tonight can make those lives just a little more worth living. — Bud Mayo
Mary Jane Robertson and Jock Clark congratulate MPAC on its extraordinary comeback from the pandemic!

Through its unique combination of innovation, data and service, ADP turns information and insights into action - helping leaders cut through the noise and lead with truth and conviction. ADP has been a proud partner of Morristown’s Mayo and provides support across many areas of the MPAC business. With social responsibility as one of its core values, ADP believes in giving back to the communities where we work and live. The partnership was prompted in part by the alignment of ADP’s core values and MPAC’s goals to be inclusive for all individuals, to entertain, enrich, and educate the diverse population and enhance the economic vitality of the local community. Additionally, ADP Senior Vice President, HCM Services, Tara Albritton, serves on the MPAC Board of Trustees. In this capacity, Tara is “excited to support the board’s continued focus on diverse community outreach.” The role ADP has played over the years to support MPAC, and its events and programs, in helping achieve their goals has been especially noteworthy.
Please join us this year as we honor ADP with the 2023 Starlight Award.
John T. Cunningham Award Wendy Aresty
M
ayo Performing Arts Center is honored to be presenting Wendy Aresty with the 2023 John T. Cunningham Award for her longstanding service and generous support of our organization. Wendy, an active community member and Morristown native, is the mother of two boys, Michael, 32 and Peter, 30. She currently lives in Bernardsville with her husband, Chris deVries. Through her creativity and generous spirit, Wendy has made an indelible mark at MPAC, and many other area organizations, as well as those in Colorado. Wendy has had many varied job and school experiences. Unable to afford college, she went to work for Morris County Savings Bank, ran a restaurant and nightclub, and attended an executive secretarial school in Summit. From there she was hired to work at Morgan Stanley in New York on the syndicate desk. She was recruited by them to help start an Events Department to coordinate the firm’s activities, including conferences, roadshows and events nationwide. When she left to get married, she attended culinary school in New York for two years and became a private chef. After having children, she went to framing school and started a small business, Prints Charming. During this time she also held leadership board positions at the JCC of Metrowest, The Peck School and Mountain Lakes Educational Foundation and volunteered to help raise funds for the Mayo Performing Arts Center — a venue she frequented as a child/teen and where she had her first date at fourteen — a Saturday matinee, of course! Wendy’s philanthropy spanned “cross-country” when she moved to Aspen, Colorado in 2004. There she served on several Boards, including The Aspen Art Museum, Anderson Art Ranch in Snowmass, The Aspen Writers’ Foundation and others, while expanding to two Prints Charming shops. Wendy returned home to Morristown in 2014 where she served on MPAC’s Board of Trustees. She has been a Starlight Ball Co-chair and continues to serve on the Committee today. She is also active with The Morristown Festival of Books and as a member of Impact 100. She currently has an online art business, the Artful Unicorn. Please join us this year as we honor Wendy Aresty with the John T. Cunningham Award.

The Performing Arts Company (PAC) MPAC’s Performing Arts Company (PAC) is an ensemble of 30 students, ages 11-18, who perform Broadway-style songs at hospitals, eldercare centers, community events, local festivals and nonprofit fundraisers, free-of charge throughout the state. For 15 years, this program has been providing a vehicle for youth who share a passion for the performing arts to use their talents to give back to the community as they receive comprehensive training, also free-of-charge, from experienced teaching artists. Each PAC member is a talented singer, dancer and actor who has successfully auditioned. The PAC performs at around 30 New Jersey venues each season, enriching the lives of over 18,000 audience members. In addition to performing with artists who grace MPAC’s main stage, they have been invited to perform at the White House, Walt Disney World, the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on Broadway with Kristin Chenoweth, and Gotham Hall in NYC for the Dramatists Guild Fund Gala.
