WELCOME to the
SEASON Dear Friends, As Mayo Performing Arts Center begins its 28th season, I am filled with joy to welcome you back to our theatre. The past several years have been challenging for all of us, but MPAC has weathered the worst of the storm, and we continue to rebound and get back to the full slate of worldclass performances, engaging education classes, diverse outreach concerts and more that we provided prior to the pandemic. We believe that MPAC is the heart of arts and entertainment in our region -– it’s where our community comes together to share a mutual love of the arts. When that was taken away by pandemic shutdowns, we all learned just how vital and necessary the arts are in our lives. The pandemic has only strengthened our resolve to make every MPAC experience an extraordinary one for every person who walks through our doors. This year, I celebrate my 20th season with this amazing organization. I want to thank our Board of Trustees, dedicated staff, wonderful volunteers, generous donors and loyal patrons who have helped the theatre flourish over the past two decades. We often talk about the memorable performances on our stage, but every person who comes through our doors has their own special story to tell as well. Whether it’s the couple celebrating a special anniversary, friends enjoying a band whose music they grew up to, or seeing students from our performing arts school share their delight in performing, so many stories and so many memories are made here every day.
Our Mission Mayo Performing Arts Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit performing arts organization, presents a wide range of programs that entertain, enrich and educate the diverse population of the region and enhance the economic vitality of Northern New Jersey.
The 2022-2023 season promises to be full of great new stories to tell and memories to share. Come and make some for yourself, and help us spread the word that the joy of experiencing the arts is back at MPAC! Sincerely,
Allison Larena, President & CEO

About MPAC Our Mission: Mayo Performing Arts Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit performing arts organization, presents a wide range of programs that entertain, enrich and educate the diverse population of the region and enhance the economic vitality of Northern New Jersey.
Acute Inflections
Thousands of people come to MPAC each year to enjoy world-class mainstage shows, classes and visual art exhibits.
MPAC’s Arts In the Community initiative brings events beyond our walls and into our community.
School of Rock
MPAC’s teen Performing Arts Company performs at dozens of senior centers, community events and nonprofit fundraisers.
Through classes, productions, field trips and school residency programs, thousands of school age children and their families annually participate in MPAC arts experiences.
A Brief History Built in 1937, The Community Theatre was one of New Jersey’s most popular singlescreen movie houses until the advent of the multiplex in the 1970s set the stage for its closing in the 1980s. Left abandoned for nearly a decade, a group of volunteers banded together to save the building, relaunching the Theatre as a performance hall in 1994. The Community Theatre was officially renamed Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) in 2011. Over the past 28 years, MPAC has undergone multiple renovations and upgrades to expand our scope of operations. Prior to the COVID pandemic, we regularly had over 200 events on our stage annually, drawing over 240,000 patrons. Our economic impact on the region has been in excess of $15 million per year.
Through the remarkable support of our community, donors and patrons, MPAC weathered one of the most challenging periods in our history during Covid-19 pandemic. During that time, MPAC continued to provide arts experiences through innovations including drive-in concerts, limited capacity performances, Zoom classes and livestreams. Beginning in September 2021, we have been thrilled to once again present full-capacity performances, featuring the world-class headliners you know and love. This past year we presented over 150 ticketed events and we look forward to a return to our pre-COVID levels moving forward. It is exciting to see Morristown again bursting with energy, and we are proud to be the heart of arts and entertainment in our region, the place where our community comes together to be inspired, entertained and uplifted by the passion and power of the performing arts.

Spotlight on Education MPAC strives to make the performing arts a vital component of every child’s upbringing, and to spark a lifelong interest in music, dance and culture. Through our Performing Arts School, annual spring musical, residency programs in local schools, field trip shows and family events, thousands of school-age children and their families are touched by MPAC programs annually.
Performing Arts School The MPAC Performing Arts School (PAS) serves over 650 children annually in a nurturing and inclusive environment. More than just theatre instruction, the PAS creates an environment where friends are made, skills are honed and everyone roots for each other. Scholarships are available - we have never turned away a student due to inability to pay. MPAC offers The Miracle Project (pictured left), which uses theatre training as a means for children with special needs to find their voice through the performing arts. This program is unique to New Jersey and MPAC is only one of three organizations nationally that offer it. Fall Performing Arts School and Miracle Project registration opens soon! Learn more about our classes at MayoArts.org/PAS. To learn more about The Miracle Project, please email croy@mayoarts.org.
