LARYSSA KRUPA, Pianist Pianist Laryssa Krupa’s career extends beyond her accomplishments in performance as soloist and collaborative pianist, to encompass numerous specialized facets of the musical world. Since her New York debut in 1983 at Carnegie Recital Hall (Weill Hall today), concert engagements have taken her across the united States, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Italy and Ukraine. She has performed as soloist with the Rome Festival Orchestra in Italy, the Lviv Philharmonic in Ukraine, and the New Sussex Symphony in New Jersey. Ms Krupa herself took the podium in Spring 2000, making her conducting debut as music director of the County College of Morris production of the musical “The Secret Garden”.

An active chamber musician, Laryssa Krupa has toured extensively with the Lysenko String Quartet of Kiev in both the United States and Ukraine. She also frequently performed two-piano repertoire with her late husband, concert pianist Alexander Slobodyanik. Their performances included the Australian International Chamber Music Festival, New Paltz PianoSummer at SUNY, the Music and Arts Center of Greene County and Merkin Concert Hall in New York.

Ms. Krupa is co-founder of the Nova Chamber Ensemble, which has presented its annual series in New York and New Jersey since 1985.

With many successes to Nova’s credit, Ms. Krupa and her colleagues have performed and recorded many works by Ukrainian composers and a number of American premieres. Most recently they have been the featured performers in the Starlight on Stage series at the Mayo Performing Arts Center.

In 1994 Ms. Krupa and her husband co-founded the Morris International Festival of the Arts, which reopened the Community Theatre in Morristown, NJ. Her dedicated work as Executive Director was crucial in drawing the world’s finest artists to Morristown for inclusion in their seasonal concert series. In 2004 they ( Alexander and Laryssa) performed the New Jersey premiere of Alexander Tchaikovky’s Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra with the Morris Festival Orchestra at the Theatre’s 10th Anniversary Gala Concert. During the 20th Anniversary of the Theatre, now MPAC, they were both honored as founders.

Laryssa Krupa holds Bachelor and Master degrees from the Peabody Conservatory of the University of Johns Hopkins, where she studied under Fernando Laires and Leon Fleisher. She has served on the faculty of the County College of Morris and is a much sought after teacher.

YURI KHARENKO, Violinist Violinist Yuri Kharenko is a representative of the famous Russian violin school which gave us brilliant virtuosos such as Yasha Heifets, Misha Elman, David Oistrakh and others.

He began studying violin at age five at the Special Music School of Kiev, and continued at the Kiev State Conservatory, completing his studies with a Master of Music Diploma with Honors. He was a Professor of Violin and String Quartet at the Kiev State Conservatory until he emigrated to the United States in 1991.

Mr. Kharenko has performed with the Back Festival Orchestra ( Oregon), the Westchester Chamber Orchestra, Scottsdale Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine and the Kiev Philharmonic.

He enjoys a distinguished international performing career both as soloist and as chamber musician. He was a member of the Leontovych String Quartet, one of the leading quartets of the former Soviet Union, from 1983 until 2000. His artistic collaborations embrace performances with such distinguished artists as violinists Ruggiero Ricci, Oleh Krysa, Abram Shtern, violists Jessy Levine, Yuri Bashmet, cellists Stephen Kates, Vagram Saradjan, pianists Ruth Laredo, Mikhail Pletnyov, Vladimir Feltsman, Alexander Slobodyanik and singers Robert White and Andrea Bocelli.

He has participated in international festivals including Mostly Mozart, Newport Festival, Texas Music Festival, Music Mountain, Lake San Marcos Chamber Music Festival, Moscow Autumn, Kiev Music Fest and Contrasts Festival (Ukraine), Victoria International Festival, Sao Paolo International Music Festival and since 1983 is a permanent artist of the Festival of Arts in Lake Mohonk, NY. Mr. Kharenko has performed the American premiere of Dave Heath’s “Celtic” Violin Concerto with Westchester Chamber Orchestra in 2000, and the world premiere of Myroslav Skoryk’s Third Violin Concerto, dedicated to him, with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine in 2001.

He is a recipient of the Ukrainian State Music Prize and was awarded the title of Outstanding Artist of Ukraine for his contribution to music culture. His performances have been broadcast by New York’s WQXR and he has recorded on Melodiya, Yevshan and Greystone Record labels.

WANDA GLOWACKA, Cellist Wanda Glowwacka comes from a family of musicians. She is a recipient of many awards and honors including first prizes in the Concertino Prague and Danczowski Competitions, Fulbright Scholarship, Julliard School Grants, Boston University Faculty Awards, The Hammer Rostropovich Award, the Halsey Stevens Award and the University of Southern California award for Musical Achievements.

Under the Management of PAGART (1976-1989) she appeared as a soloist and in recitals on many stages in Europe and Americas. She made her debut with orchestra at age 11. In 1987 Miss Glowacka gave the American premiere of Lutoslawski’s “Grave” for cello and orchestra in Los Angeles. She has recorded for Czech, Polish and French radio and Television as well as KUSC in Los Angeles, Ca. Since 1989 she has performed regularly on American stages and at various Music Festivals and Concert Series including: Shandelee, Windham, Music Mountain, Great Music at Scarborough Series, Waterville Valley, San Marcos, Harvard Club, Helen Osterlin Concert Series, Hoffstra Cultural Center Concert Series, Ukrainian Institute Concert Series, Weill Recital Hall…

Since 1998 she has performed in the yearly concerts of “20 Century Music and On” in NYC (Merkin Hall) dedicated to promoting newly written music, including the 2007 premiere of a cello & piano piece “Panorama” by Ronn Yedidia, written for her in 2003.

Ms.Glowacka has been also active as a teacher since 1991. Former faculty member of the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw and the Szymanowski Special Music School in Warsaw (Poland), she continues to share her experience as a faculty member of the Special Music School at Kaufman Center in New York City.
