OUTSTANDING ORCHESTRA MEMBERS Lillian Salerno Grade 8, Madison Junior School; East Hanover; Nominated by Kathleen McCormick I would like to nominate violist, Lillian Salerno, for Mayo Performing Arts Center’s music student of the month for Outstanding Orchestra member. Lillian has been a member of the MJS orchestra for three years and every single year she has proven herself to be one of the most valued members of the orchestra. She has an excellent work and practice ethic, responsibly attending lessons and rehearsals, and is always prepared. Her positive attitude and spotless conduct record have made her a role model to other students. Her solid playing ability along with attentive focus have helped make the viola section one of the strongest in the orchestra. Veronica Szewcyk Grade 8, Mendham Township Middle School; Mendham; Nominated by Karen Schaberg Veronica has been playing violin for five years. She has always stood out as an exceptional player in all her years. Her success can be attributed not only to her talent and family support, but she is the kind of student who is always prepared and present. We have rehearsals before the school day and barring illness she has always attended and been a great role model for the other students. She has supplemented her weekly group lessons with summer music camps. She is a very modest person who is gracious to players who need extra help or those who have something to teach her. She has consistently placed within the first few chairs in our almost 50 piece orchestra.
