Welcome to the Mayo Performing Arts Center! Dear Patron, In the winter of 1994, conductor Valery Gergiev and his friend, classical pianist Alexander Slobodyanik, entered the boarded-up, run-down Community Theatre which had been closed and left to ruin. Gergiev stepped on to the dilapidated stage, snapped his fingers, listened to the acoustics and proclaimed, “The Kirov with play here!” On September 29, 1994, after a massive cleanup effort by hundreds of volunteers, Gergiev and the Kirov opened the newly created Community Theatre performance hall. It was a night to remember. How quickly 20 years has passed. In the last two decades, the Theatre has been renovated and expanded. 1937-era restrooms have been replaced by state-of-the-art modern facilities. The stage has been ripped apart, rebuilt and enlarged. Where once stood a house now stands our administrative offices, education studios, backstage production facilities and the Starlight Room. MPAC has grown up from a local community theatre into a world class performing arts center. We’ve attracted amazing artists over the years – Ringo Starr, Ray Charles, Harry Connick, Jr., Itzhak Perlman and David Brubeck, just to name a few. We now present Broadway touring companies with large-scale shows like Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. What was a once only a dream in 1994 has become a reality today. MPAC has become the cultural nucleus of Northern New Jersey. Equally as important to bringing the world’s greatest artists to Morristown is fostering an environment of learning and inclusion for the youth of our community. Something special with the children of our area happens in our building nearly every day. MPAC is the home to a robust arts education and outreach program that continues to flourish. Fully produced musicals such as Hairspray, performing arts classes, residency programs at local schools, schooltime educational shows, master classes with industry pros, Music Students of the Month, visual art contests, Poetry Out Loud, the traveling teen performing arts company and our internship program touch the lives of over 40,000 school age children and their families. In 20 years, we have become a powerful economic engine for the local community, a valued education resource for children and home to the world’s greatest entertainers who make performance after performance something to remember and cherish. Who would have thought what a snap of the fingers would have created! Sincerely,

Joseph M. Goryeb Chairman, Board of Trustees

The Miracle on South Street Celebrating 20 years!

The 2014-2015 season marks the 20th anniversary of the Mayo Performing Arts Center. Originally built as Morristown’s premier movie theater in 1937 and called The Community Theatre, MPAC (renamed in 2009) was saved from the wrecking ball in 1994 by a group of community volunteers who envisioned the value a vibrant arts center could have on a town. Morristown resident and classical pianist Alexander Slobodyanik invited his friend, Valery Gergiev, the conductor of the Kirov Orchestra, to enter the boarded up theater in early 1994. Mr. Gergiev stood on stage, snapped his fingers, heard the acoustics and proclaimed, “The Kirov will play here.” After a summer in which hundreds of residents volunteered their time to remove mushrooms growing from the floor, and cleaned up the mold, mildew and dust, the Kirov did play here. On September 29, 1994, a new era was born with the rebirth of The Community Theatre – once Morristown’s crown jewel of a movie palace -- into a concert hall. Twenty years, later, MPAC remains Morristown’s crown jewel, and has evolved into a world renowned performing arts center, with over 200 events on our stage every year, attracting over 200,000 patrons, with an economic impact in excess of $14 million on the area. Tony Bennett, Ringo Starr, Jerry Seinfeld and many more of the world’s best known performers have graced the stage. It is the Morris County home to the New Jersey Symphony and New Jersey Ballet, and over the years, has provided space for many other New Jersey based arts organizations. Beyond what goes on our stage is the growth of MPAC’s education and outreach programs that bring the arts experience to children in communities throughout New Jersey, engaging the next generation of arts lovers in educational programs that instill confidence, inspire learning and encourage teamwork. From our teen Performing Arts Company to school residency programs, productions such as Hairspray to Music Students of the Month, MPAC education programs touch the lives of over 40,000 children and families annually. “The Miracle on South Street,” as dubbed by historian John T. Cunningham, still continues to inspire.

MPAC’s 20th Anniversary Season A Reason to Celebrate and Support!

Since 1994, MPAC has become a leading performing arts venue in the region, serving over 200,000 people each year through a wide diversity of arts presentations and education programs that enrich the cultural fabric of our community. Complexions Contemporary Ballet Innervisions - A Tribute to Steve Wonder It is artistic directors Desmond Richardson and Dwight Rhoden’s lifelong appreciation for the artistic & aesthetic appeal of the multicultural that forms the cornerstone of Complexions Contemporary Ballet’s singular approach to reinventing dance. Founded by the two former Alvin Ailey members in 1994, Complexions’ groundbreaking mix of methods, styles, cultures has created an entirely new and exciting vision of human movement over the past decade-and-ahalf. The company’s foremost innovation is that dance should be about removing boundaries, not reinforcing them. Whether it be the limiting traditions of a single style, period, venue, or culture, Complexions transcends them all, creating an open, continually evolving form of dance that reflects the movement of our world—and all its constituent cultures—as an interrelated whole. It is Rhoden and Richardson’s unique career paths that have paved the way for them to re-define dance—as their multifaceted resumes will show, neither has ever been comfortable with his art being placed in a box. Instead, from E! to PBS to VH1, from Cirque de Soleil to the Joffrey Ballet, the two have allowed the transformative power of their art to flow freely throughout the entertainment world—their creative vision restricted by nothing but the limits of the human body itself. Together, Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson have created in Complexions an institution that embodies its historical moment, a sanctuary where those passionate about dance can celebrate its past while simultaneously building its future. In the 15 years since its inception, the company has born witness to a world that is becoming more fluid, more changeable, and more culturally interconnected than ever before—in other words, a world that is becoming more and more like Complexions itself. ARTISTIC DIRECTORS Dwight Rhoden (Founding Artistic Director/ Resident Choreographer of Complexions Contemporary Ballet) has established a remarkably wide-ranging career, earning dis tinction from The New York Times as “one of the most sought out choreographers of the day.” A native of Dayton, Ohio who began dancing at age 17, Rhoden has performed with Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Les Ballet Jazz De Montreal and as a principal dancer with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. He has appeared in numerous television specials, documentaries and commercials throughout the United States, Canada and Europe and has been a featured performer on many PBS “Great Performances” specials. Since 1994 Rhoden’s choreography has been the

lynchpin in the development of the Complexions repertory. He has been praised for his prolific body of work, visionary style and boundary-breaking sensibility. Rhoden has created over 80 ballets for Complexions, as well as numerous other companies, including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, The Arizona Ballet, The Aspen Santa Fe Ballet Company, Ballet Gamonet, The Dance Theater of Harlem, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, The Joffrey Ballet, Miami City Ballet, New York City Ballet/Diamond Project, North Carolina Dance Theater, The Pennsylvania Ballet, Philadanco, Minneapolis Dance Theater, Phoenix Dance Company, Sacramento Ballet, Oakland Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, The Washington Ballet, and Zenon Dance Company. He has worked with, coached, and created for some of the most diverse artists spanning the world of ballet and contemporary dance. “Rhoden’s work is postBalanchinean choreography, a new aesthetic in movement, stage, picture, and performance concepts reflecting a post-modern, techno-savvy worldview” (Dance Magazine) Widely known as “a dancer’s choreographer,” Rhoden has worked with, coached and created for some of the most diverse artists spanning the worlds of ballet and contemporary dance. He has directed and choreo graphed for TV, film, theater and live perform ances including So You Think You Can Dance, E! Entertainment’s “Tribute to Style” and Cirque Du Soleil. He has also worked with such high-profile artists as Prince, Lenny Kravitz, Kelly Clarkson and Patrick Swayze. Rhoden is the Resident Choreographer of North Carolina Dance Theatre and has lectured, taught, created works for and served as Artist in Residence at universities around the United States including New York University, Juilliard and The University of Mississippi, where his 2004 Racial Reconciliation Project was credited as a catalyst for dialogue in a community that has been historically divided. Rhoden is a 1998 New York Foundation for the Arts Award recipient and beneficiary of the 2001 Choo San Goh Award for Choreography. In May 2006 he received The Ailey School’s Apex Award in recognition of his extensive contributions to the field of dance. Desmond Richardson (Founding Artistic Director/ Artist-in-Residence). Hailed by The New York Times as “one of the great modern dancers of his time,” Desmond Richardson is a multi-talented artist who has mastered a wide range of classical, modern and contemporary dance genres. Praised for his powerful dancing and singular perform¬ance quality, Richardson has been the hall¬mark performer who has shaped the essence of the Complexions style for over a decade.

When he danced the lead role in the American Ballet Theatre’s world premiere of Othello, The New York Times described him as “one of the most majestic dancers ever to tread the Metropolitan Opera House stage.” In 1998, Richardson joined the original cast of the Broadway musical Fosse, for which he received a 1999 Tony Award nomination. Working in television, film and video in the United States and abroad, Richardson has performed with such musical artists as Michael Jackson, Prince, Aretha Franklin and Madonna. He made his onscreen singing debut in Charles Randolph Wright’s 2005 film Preaching to the Choir and is featured in Patrick Swayze and Lisa Niemi’s film One Last Dance as well as the Oscar-winning movie adaptation of Chicago. Richardson appeared in Julie Taymor’s film Across the Universe and also performed the lead role of Beowulf in her Grendel at the LA Opera and The New York State Theater. Among his many honors are The Ailey School’s

2006 Apex Award and the prestigious 2007 Dance Magazine Award. He is also a recipient of a 1986 Presidential Scholar Award for the Arts and will be awarded the NFAA Alumni award later in 2009. Recently, he and Dwight Rhoden partnered with Diana Vishneva for her one-woman show, Beauty in Motion, at New York City Center, the Orange County Performing Arts Center and in Moscow, Russia. In May 2008, he was one of two dancers invited by the President of the United States to perform at the 60th Presidential Conference in Israel. This June, Richardson appeared on the Fox television hit, “So You Think You Can Dance,” for which he choreographed a duet with Dwight Rhoden.

Rosanne Cash: The River & The Thread Tour “I went back to where I was born, and these songs started arriving in me,” says Rosanne Cash. “All these things happened that made me feel a deeper connection to the South than I ever had. We started finding these great stories, and the melodies that went with those experiences.” With The River and the Thread, Cash has added the next chapter to a remarkable period of creativity. Her last two albums, Black Cadillac (2006) and The List (2009), were both nominated for Grammy Awards; The List—an exploration of essential songs as selected and given to Rosanne by her father, Johnny Cash—was also named Album of the Year by the Americana Music Association. In addition, her best-selling 2010 memoir, Composed, was described by the Chicago Tribune as “one of the best accounts of an American life you will likely ever read.” Cash, who has charted 21 Top 40 country singles, including 11 Number Ones, wrote all of the new album’s songs with her longtime collaborator (and husband) John Leventhal, who also served as producer, arranger, and guitarist. Featuring a long list of guests—from young guns like John Paul White (The Civil Wars) and Derek Trucks to such legends as John Prine and Tony Joe White— The River and the Thread is a kaleidoscopic examination of the geographic, emotional, and historic landscape of the American South. The album’s unique sound, which draws from country, blues, gospel, and rock, reflects the soulful mix of music that traces its history to the region. “When we started forming the idea for this record,” says Cash, “it felt like it was going to be the third part of a trilogy—with Black Cadillac mapping out a territory of mourning and loss and then The List, celebrating my family’s musical legacy. I feel this record ties past and present together through all those people and places in the South I knew and thought I had left behind.” The literal journey toward The River and the Thread began when Arkansas State University contacted Cash about their interest in purchasing her father’s boyhood home in Dyess, Arkansas. A series of benefit concert to get the project started featured artists like George Jones, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson as well as the Civil Wars. Marshall Grant, who had been Johnny Cash’s bass player in the Tennessee Two, came to rehearsal for the inaugural show, but had a brain aneurysm that night and died three days later. Grant had been a “surrogate dad” to Rosanne after her father’s death, and the time that she spent with his widow, Etta, eventually led to the writing of “Etta’s Tune,” the first complete composition for the new album. “It scared me a little bit when we wrote that song,” she says. “I don’t think I had ever written a third-

person narrative with so many real-life details.” While helping with the purchase and renovation of the Dyess house, Cash and Leventhal took several extended trips through the Southern states— visiting William Faulkner’s house; Dockery Farms, the plantation where Howlin’ Wolf and Charley Patton worked and sang; Natchez and the blues trail. “The thread” in the album’s title comes from Cash’s friend Natalie Chanin, a master seamstress in Florence, Alabama. “Natalie was teaching me to sew,” says Cash, “and she said, ‘You have to learn to love the thread,’ in this beautiful accent, and it hit me as an enormous metaphor.” The line appears in the album’s opener, “A Feather’s Not a Bird,” a deeply swampy shuffle which Cash describes as “a mini-travelogue of the South, and of the soul.” These journeys repeatedly took them through Memphis, the city of Cash’s birth and a place that had a profound impact on the album’s direction. They visited the studio of Sun Records, and watched their son strum a guitar in the same room where her father cut his first record. “The connection to Memphis is powerful and deep” says Cash. Another destination illustrated just how tightly packed the sweep of history can be as you approach the Mississippi Delta. Cash and Leventhal sought out the Tallahatchie Bridge, site of Bobbie Gentry’s classic, mysterious 1967 hit “Ode to Billie Joe.” Around the corner was Money Road, and the abandoned country grocery store where in 1955, 14 year old Emmett Till reportedly flirted with a white woman, leading to his tragic murder and in turn helping to ignite the Civil Rights movement. Just a few miles away, near Greenwood, they came across Robert Johnson’s gravesite—”it was unbelievably haunting there, just chilling,” she says. The slinky, eerie “Money Road,” which closes the album, tells the tale of this area Cash calls “a vortex of music and revolution.” Other songs on The River and the Thread draw from stories and characters across generations of the Cash family. “Sunken Lands” is named for the area where Johnny Cash grew up, and recounts the difficult life of his mother, Carrie. While the sparse, moody Southern pop of “The Long Way Home” draws on details from the lives of Rosanne and her family, she points out that “the sentiment is universal—most of us go a long way and try a lot of things before we come home to ourselves. To paraphrase Paul Theroux, ‘We go away to find the changes in ourselves. We go away to find our place in the world.’” “Tell Heaven” is an achingly beautiful meditation on longing and loneliness. All of these lines come together in “When the Master Calls the Roll,” which was initially a song that Leventhal and Rodney Crowell were writing

for Emmylou Harris. When Cash’s son Jake was researching an 8th grade project on the Civil War, she reminded him that they had ancestors who fought on both sides of the conflict. When she clicked on the online Civil War database, she was stunned to see a photograph of William Cash from Massachusetts. Loving Leventhal’s melody of the still-unrecorded song, she approached her ex-husband Crowell about rewriting the lyrics and crafting a Civil War ballad around her fore bearer. “As we worked on it, the character started to obsess me,” Cash says. “I’d think about him night and day, I couldn’t sleep, and I didn’t know how the story would turn out. One morning the last verse came to me in a flood and I began to cry—I didn’t really realize he was going to die until that moment.” As the themes and subjects of The River and the Thread emerged, Cash gradually envisioned how she wanted to connect the dots into a cohesive work, connecting her own story to the rich history of a region. “I guess I weave in and out of these songs, in a way,” she says. “I don’t think I had a complete map of it, but John really became a guide. We would write something and say, ‘This is this part of the geography, both emotional and physical.’”

Rosanne Cash acknowledges that, even with fifteen albums and four books behind her, it was difficult to start writing songs again after spending several years immersed in the masterful compositions featured on The List. “You cannot keep that in your mind, except as an inspiration, a standard to aspire to,” she says. “To say, ‘I’m going to write a song as great as “Take These Chains”’— you’re not! So the only way to not get dismantled by that is to stay connected to your own muse, and immerse yourself completely in what you’re doing so it can be as rich and authentic as it can possibly be. That’s all you can hope for.” With The River and the Thread, she has risen to that challenge—and emerged with a beautiful and haunting album, one of the finest works in an extraordinary career.

Foreigner With ten multi-platinum albums and sixteen Top 30 hits, Foreigner is universally hailed as one of the most popular rock acts in the world with a formidable musical arsenal that continues to propel sold-out tours and album sales, now exceeding 75 million. Responsible for some of rock and roll’s most enduring anthems including “Juke Box Hero,”“Feels Like The First Time,”“Urgent,” “Head Games,” “Hot Blooded,” “Cold As Ice,” “Dirty White Boy,” “Waiting For A Girl Like You,” and the worldwide #1 hit, “I Want To Know What Love Is,” Foreigner continues to rock the charts more than thirty years into the game. At Foreigner’s core is founder and lead guitarist Mick Jones, the visionary maestro whose stylistic songwriting, indelible guitar hooks and multilayered talents continue to escalate Foreigner’s influence, along with lead vocalist Kelly Hansen, bass guitarist Jeff Pilson and multi-instrumentalist Tom Gimbel. Founded in 1976, Foreigner’s debut album produced the hits “Feels Like The First Time,” “Cold As Ice” and “Long, Long Way From Home.” The album Double Vision followed, as did a string of hits like “Urgent,” “Juke Box Hero” and “Waiting For A Girl Like You.” Those songs helped give Foreigner’s next album, 4, its impressive run at #1 on the Billboard chart. At the zenith of 80’s sound, Foreigner’s fifth album, Agent Provocateur, gave the world the incredible #1 global hit,” I Want To Know What Love Is.” This musical milestone followed the record-breaking song “Waiting For A Girl Like You.” An unprecedented new level of energy commenced in 2002 when Mick Jones decided to take Foreigner to the next level. He was joined by the astonishing Kelly Hansen on vocals, and continues as they lead the group in a reemergence of astounding music that speaks to long time foreigner fans and younger generations. With renewed energy and direction, Foreigner hit the Billboard charts again with the 2005 release of their live greatest hits album, Extended Versions. Can’t Slow Down followed in 2009, and entered the Billboard chart in the Top 30, driven by two Top 20 radio singles, “In Pieces” and “When It Comes To Love.” To follow was the release of the band’s 3-disc set, Feels Like The First Time, which included an acoustic CD with an intimate and unique re-interpretation of many Foreigner classics, studio re-records by the new lineup and a live performance DVD showcasing the group’s exceptional live energy. Foreigner experienced another surge in popularity when several of their hits were featured on the Rock Of Ages soundtrack, including “I Want To Know What Love Is,” “Juke Box Hero” and “Waiting

For A Girl Like You” – more songs than any other one band on the soundtrack. Hollywood quickly took note, and several more tracks were featured in hit films “Anchorman 2,” “Magic Mike” and “Pitch Perfect,” sending Foreigner downloads up 400%. The video game industry was soon to follow. The blockbuster release, “Grand Theft Auto V,” features Foreigner’s “Dirty White Boy,” and “Hot Blooded” is included in the November 2013 release of “BandFuse”. The high visibility of Foreigner’s songs continues to introduce the band’s music to a whole future generation of fans. Juke Box Heroes, a new compilation of digitally recorded Foreigner hits, has spent over thirty weeks in the Billboard Top 200 in 2013/2014. In September 2013, it rose to #4 the Nielsen SoundScan Top 200 Catalog chart, an astonishing feat that allowed Foreigner’s catalog sales that week to eclipse those of AC/DC, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, Queen, Van Halen and most of their Classic Rock peers. (Source: Nielsen SoundScan Top 200, September 15, 2013) In June 2013, Mick Jones was inducted to the Songwriters Hall Of Fame. A multi-talented and multi-dimensional “musician’s musician,” Jones has also written songs such as “Bad Love” with Eric Clapton and “Dreamer” with Ozzy Osbourne, and produced records for others including Billy Joel’s Storm Front and Van Halen’s 5150. A Grammy and Golden Globe-nominated songwriter, Jones is the winner of the prestigious British Ivor Novello Songwriter Award for “The Flame Still Burns”, the soundtrack music for the film Still Crazy. In May 2014, Atlantic Records Chairman Craig Kallman presented Mick Jones with RIAA gold and platinum digital awards for six Foreigner songs. These awards signify 500,000 and 1,000,000 downloads of Foreigner hits. That is more individual awards than any other heritage rock band, and an illustration of Foreigner’s resonance in the digital era. The year continued with Foreigner’s headline run in The Soundtrack of Summer US amphitheater tour. The hits compilation album of the same name was released to coincide with the tour and immediately hit the Billboard Top 200 chart, peaking at #64. For most weeks during the tour, Juke Box Heroes joined The Soundtrack Of Summer in the Billboard Top 200 making Foreigner the only Classic Rock band to have such a remarkable presence in today’s chart.

Tango Buenos Aires: Song of Eva Peron Tango Buenos Aires has become one of Argentina’s great cultural exports, known throughout the Americas, Europe and the Far East as the most authentic and uncompromising representative of the Tango. Tango Buenos Aires was created for the “Jazmines” festival at the famous Buenos Aires cabaret “Michelangelo” by renowned composer and tango director Osvaldo Requena. The company met with tremendous success and was immediately added to the season of the General San Martin Municipal Theatre. In 1986, the company traveled to the United States in order to represent Argentina at the Latin-American Festival, which took place at the Delacorte Theatre in New York City’s Central Park during the month of August. This event was followed by an extensive tour throughout the United States, along with trips to Mexico, Puerto Rico and El Salvador, followed by a return to the United States via Miami and San Francisco. In December 1986, the group appeared on NHK television in Tokyo, and it completed 62 performances throughout Japan, as well as a CD recording for Sony entitled Quejas de Bandoneón (Sony 32 DP 731). In 1987 the company undertook a lengthy tour of the principal cities of Argentina, performing at the Spring Festival in Bariloche, at the Galli Auditorium in Mendoza, at the Municipal Theatre in Ciudad de Rosario, in Santa Rosa La Pampa, and in the city of Rio Negro, in addition to various appearances on television channels for the S.A.D.A.I.C. series and in the series sponsored by the Argentinean Ministry of Culture, before ending the season at the Auditorio in Mar del Plata. In March 1989, the company traveled to Berlin and Frankfurt, Germany, to Granada, Spain for the International Tango Festival, and to Madrid for performances at the Teatro de la Villa and at the National Auditorium. In October 1989 the company began a Latin American tour, appearing in Quito and Guayaquil in Ecuador, in Mexico, and ending in Los Angeles. In March 1990, Tango Buenos Aires participated in the International Festival in Adelaide, Australia, and in April the company performed at the New Zealand Festival. In June 1991, the company traveled to Southeast Asia, giving performances in Singapore and Kuala Lupur, Malaysia, and Bangkok, Thailand. Under the patronage of the President of Argentina, the company introduced the Tango to Indonesia for the first time ever. In 1992 Tango Buenos Aires performed in Santiago, Chile and on Chilean television, with further performances in Vina del Mar and a subsequent trip to Brazil, performing at the Memorial.

1993 was a year of extensive travel in Argentina, Spain (Granada, Madrid and Andalucia), Finland and Chile (Vitacura, Santiago, Vina del Mar and Valparaiso). Beginning in November, the company toured Malaysia, Japan and China. In Beijing, the company hosted a series of unprecedented master classes and residencies with Chinese dancers at the Dance University of Beijing, teaching the origin and evolution of the Tango and further international understanding and cooperation. In 1994, Tango Buenos Aires traveled to Spain, performing for the third time at the sixth International Festival in Granada, and also performing at the University and National Auditorium in Madrid. In June, the company took part in performances and master classes at the Kuopio Festival in Finland, and also performed in Copenhagen, followed by another trip to Malaysia. The company spent most of 1995 performing in Buenos Aires and touring throughout South America, culminating in a season at Buenos Aires’s Museo Fernández Blanco, Teatro Gral San Martin and the Teatro Presidente Alvear. In 1996 Tango Buenos Aires toured Portugal, and in the Autumn the company will travel to Greece, and will end the year with a tour of Japan extending into January 1997. Tango Buenos Aires toured the United States for its first Coast-to-Coast tour during the 1998-99 season to great critical and popular acclaim, appearing in cities including Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Miami, Atlanta, Washington, DC, New York, Boston, Cleveland, Louisville, Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Lincoln, Toronto, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. In June 1999, the renowned pianist Cristian Zárate succeeded Mr. Requena as music director, and Pablo Mainetti, the world’s greatest bandoneon player, joined the orchestra. In 2005 Julian Vat, Argentina’s most prolific composer and leading musician assumed the title of music director. The company returned to North America in Winter 2003 for a two and half month tour of the Unites States. Do to the extraordinary success of this tour the Company returned in the Fall of 2007 and Winter of 2011 for a two month Coast to Coast tour of the United States. The Company returns next in January through March 2015 to undertake a two and half month Coast to Coast tour of the United States and Canada.

Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy Visions from Cape Breton and Beyond

Since marrying in 2002, two of Canada’s brightest stars have been captivating audiences all over North America with their exceptional musical skills and obvious joy of playing together. Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy have received both industry-acclaim and a loyal following by combining their incredible individual talents, giving audiences a remarkable musical experience each and every night. Both born into musical families, Natalie and Donnell entered into their musical careers naturally. Hailing from Cape Breton Island, Natalie received her first fiddle at the age of nine. Her first recording was released when she was only 16, launching a career that has lasted for over 30 years. With amazing dedication to her craft, Natalie has received numerous awards in the US and Canada, recognizing both her musical talent and importance to Cape Breton’s fiddling tradition and international profile. Natalie’s performances leave her audiences hollering for more as she and her band wow them with stylistic diversity without losing the traditional Cape Breton groove. Although her stage presence is reason enough to see one of her shows, it’s the elegance with the bow, the intricate technique with the fiddle, and the embrace of the Cape Breton tradition that floors her admirers at countless shows every year. Honing his remarkable talent since the age of three, Donnell has literally spent his entire life with a fiddle in his hand. His initial skills were learned at home from his parents – a fiddle-playing

father from Ontario and a step-dancing mother from Cape Breton. With a well-trained ear it is no surprise that, as the musical leader & front-man of Leahy for over 15 years, his own style emerged; some even say he even created a new genre of music known simply as “Leahy.” Combined with his mesmerizingly strident, exultant, and high-energy performances, this style has become Donnell Leahy’s musical signature. Now, after over 10 years of marriage and six children, Donnell and Natalie have turned their sights to combining their musical and home lives. By incorporating family into their performances and travel, they have found the perfect way to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Donnell & Natalie strive to bring up their children with the same home, faith, and musical heritage each of them received. Fiddling, step-dancing, and piano lessons find their place alongside hockey sticks, school books, and family events. A “Natalie & Donnell” performance is not soon forgotten. From the first note, audiences recognize the amazing talent being poured out before them. Riveting original pieces, traditional Cape Breton tunes, step-dancing, story-telling, and a joiede-vive you have to see to believe, Natalie and Donnell have created a musical progeny that is in all ways unique and enticing and ensures that a strong Canadian fiddling tradition will exist for years to come.

Stanley Jordan and Kevin Eubanks Stanley Jordan In a career that took flight in 1985 with immediate commercial and critical acclaim, guitar virtuoso Stanley Jordan has consistently displayed a chameleonic musical persona of openness, imagination, versatility, respect and maverick daring. Be it bold reinventions of classical masterpieces or soulful explorations through pop-rock hits, to blazing straight ahead jazz forays and ultramodern improvisational works—solo or with a group—Jordan can always be counted on to take listeners on breathless journeys into the unexpected. On his latest Mack Avenue recording, Friends, Jordan takes the time-honored path of inviting a handpicked cadre of guests: guitarists Bucky Pizzarelli, Mike Stern, Russell Malone and Charlie Hunter; violinist Regina Carter; saxophonists Kenny Garrett and Ronnie Laws; trumpeter Nicholas Payton; bassists Christian McBride and Charnett Moffett; and drummer Kenwood Dennard. The results proved truly outstanding on numbers ranging from a Bela Bartok piece to a Katy Perry pop smash, a heady original blues and three jazz classics spanning swing, cool and modern. There’s a listenerfriendly samba, an airy spirit song and an astounding nod to the atonal. Jordan even plays some serious piano on a couple of songs, revisiting his first instrument with newfound confidence and wonder. Jordan opens Friends with the straight-ahead original Capital J featuring Kenny Garrett on tenor saxophone and Nicholas Payton on trumpet. “So much of the great jazz I grew up with was built on a strong horn line,” Jordan states. “In the spirit of those great classics I wrote this tune. Nick’s tone is fresh and full of life, and he creates interesting, complex improvisations while still leaving plenty of space. Kenny combines a deep musical knowledge with a natural and effortless facility. My favorite part of Capital J was just comping behind the horns.” A trip to Bluesville is next with Walkin’ the Dog, which recalls B.B. King but with some edgier things going on around the fringe. Jordan collaborates with groove-master Charlie Hunter on this one. “Our paths have crossed in many jam band situations. We both play multiple parts at once, but he plays more in the lower range while I play more in the higher range, so we complement each other very well.” Next up is the big band standard Lil’ Darlin’, a gem from the pen of the great Neal Hefti redefined as a quintessential ballad by Count Basie. Together Jordan and guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli create a dreamy romantic feel. “Bucky brought that one in and gave us all a history lesson. How precious this

moment was, reminding us that we were in the presence of one of the greats who helped create this music we call jazz.” Jazz rocker Mike Stern emerges next for a mindblowing spin through the groundbreaking John Coltrane classic Giant Steps. “Mike and I cut our teeth in the same scene in New York in the early ‘80s. Once we jammed together on Giant Steps back in the ‘90s while on tour. He glides through this complex tune with an approach that is so beautiful, natural and musical.” Jordan really lets the fur fly with his take on pop sensation Katy Perry’s runaway hit I Kissed a Girl on which he plays guitar and piano simultaneously in a second teaming with Charlie Hunter. Jordan— who scored massive hits with covers of Michael Jackson’s The Lady in My Life and The Beatles’ Eleanor Rigby—sees this as a vital continuum in both jazz history and his history. “I chose a song from the current generation—a generation moving into a more tolerant and accepting world.” Samba Delight, featuring Ronnie Laws on soprano saxophone and Regina Carter on violin, puts one in the mind of tropical paradise. “Ronnie is a remarkable and versatile musician who is at the crossroads of many musical worlds,” Jordan explains. “When I showed Ronnie Samba Delight he remarked on how much he liked the tune. It felt really good to hear that because I composed it with him in mind!” The pendulum swings back to jazz with the super standard Seven Come Eleven, a song made famous in Benny Goodman’s band as a feature for electric jazz guitar pioneer Charlie Christian. In loving homage, Jordan put himself together with Bucky Pizzarelli and Russell Malone to swing this classic into the rafters. “When I told Bucky I was thinking about doing Seven Come Eleven he just lit up! I love the old time three-way improv we played toward the end. Bucky played a rousing solo and Russell was great as well, providing a cool yet uplifting spirit.” Bathed in Light is an original that Jordan calls this album’s “spirit song.” It brings back Garrett and Payton on horns, and the always empathetic Christian McBride on bass in a softer turn than the swinging opener Capital J. “This was our first chance to play together,” Jordan says of McBride, “a dream come true because I have admired his playing for many years. He was very sensitive as he adjusted his approach to each song, playing just the right part at all times.” On the inspiration behind the music and title, Jordan muses, “The splashy guitar chords bring out the meaning of the title. Sometimes when we’re bogged down in the details of things, we get depressed. But when we put things into proper perspective, the clouds

part and we see a rainbow. I was having one of those moments when I wrote this song.” Mirroring the Zen of all this, Kenwood Dennard played live drums and keyboards simultaneously. With boundless beauty, Friends moves into the home stretch with two creative renditions of classical themes. The first is Romantic Intermezzo, based on the theme of the fourth movement of Bela Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra. This deeply stirring piece features Regina Carter on violin and Stanley, this time exclusively on piano, in his most virtuosic recording on the instrument to date. “Though most of my training is on guitar, I have a strong connection to the piano. I started at the age of three, so playing piano is natural for me, but I had to get out of the mental grid that I’m a ‘guitar player’—a major liberation for me.” Reflecting on working with the violin virtuoso, Jordan says, “Regina Carter is an amazing violinist who combines my favorite elements from the jazz side and the classical side. Doing improvisations of ‘classical’ compositions often means spelling out more than just chord symbols. In this case, I wrote out many of the voicings I was using so we could improvise in a cohesive way. The result was a dense page of notes, which was probably a lot to drop on Regina at the last minute, but she rose to the occasion admirably. The sensitivity of her playing is exquisite.” A take on Claude Debussy’s Reverie in a jazz context features Jordan and his road trio of Charnett Moffett on bass and Kenwood Dennard on drums. The group has been performing this for many years, which explains the fluid ease with which they weave through it. “We pretty much stuck to the form on this one except for a brief modal improv which was obviously not written into the original composition,” Jordan states, “but I feel that it gets across the meaning and spirit of the song.” Friends closes on an ear-turning note with One for Milton, a heartfelt yet adventurous tribute to one of Jordan’s most beloved music teachers, composer Milton Babbit (1916-2011), who passed away as Jordan was preparing to record Friends. “I studied theory and composition with Milton at Princeton in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. He was a giant in his field and he left a big impression on me—musically and personally. In Eastern spiritual traditions a guru is someone whose very presence confers enlightenment. Milton truly fit this description. Russell, Kenwood and I created this from scratch as an improvisation. I’ve always been a fan of Russell’s more experimental side, and it got a great showing on this recording. We didn’t try to imitate Milton’s style, but in the spirit of his music we did take an atonal approach. If anything, there are parts that sound a bit like Milton’s teacher, Arnold Schoenberg.” Reflecting on the wealth of music inspired by collaborating with chosen peers on Friends, Stanley Jordan concludes, “I am so humbled and

grateful to all of the wonderful musicians who graced this project. This collection truly speaks to my belief in the integrationist spirit of music. I’d like to move beyond ‘fusion’ and explore the concept of ‘integration.’ When you integrate styles, you combine them into something new while still remaining true to the original sources. The same principal holds for our friendships, which require mutual respect. Our friends are a mirror revealing the diversity within us, and at the same time they give us the courage to share our true selves with the world.” Kevin Eubanks Kevin Eubanks is a gifted musician and prolific composer whose own band, the Kevin Eubanks Quartet, has been evolving for close to twenty years. Kevin is also well known as the Music Director of The Tonight Show Band, appearing on the show 18 years (1992 - 2010). In both situations, Kevin has won over audiences with a laid back style and an affability that seems to belie the concentration and focus that have made him both a household word for TV viewers and a consummate guitarist. Kevin was born into a musical household in Philadelphia, PA. His mother, Vera Eubanks, is a gospel and classical pianist and organist with a Masters Degree in music education. She has taught both privately and in the school system, until her recent retirement. Vera’s brother, Ray Bryant, is a journeyman jazz pianist who has recorded and toured with jazz greats such as Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, and Sarah Vaughn not to mention a few hit records of his own. Kevin was thus exposed to world-class music in his formative years, when he began to play the violin. Along with his older brother Robin, an accomplished trombonist and also a professional musician, Kevin played in small groups around his hometown and spent countless hours practicing at home. Kevin studied the trumpet before making his commitment to the guitar, which was solidified with his entrance to the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston. There he met many of the finest jazz musicians of his generation. When Kevin moved to New York after attending Berklee College of Music, his career kicked off in earnest. He played with some of the stalwarts of jazz, like Ron Carter, Slide Hampton, Art Blakey, McCoy Tyner, Sam Rivers, and Roy Haynes. In addition to working in other bands, Kevin became the leader of his own quartet and traveled to Jordan, Pakistan, and India on a tour sponsored by the US State Department not to mention the European/ Japanese jazz circuit which so many jazz artists frequent. Kevin taught at the Banff School of Fine Arts in Canada, at Rutgers University, and at the Charlie Parker School in Perugia, Italy. His first album as a leader, Guitarist, was released on the Elektra label when Kevin was 25. It documented a sophisticated, nuanced voice on the instrument, and was graced by the presence of some peers who still work with him today: tenor saxophonist

Ralph Moore, a member of The Tonight Show Band, and Robin. Kevin’s cousins, the late bassist David Eubanks and the pianist Charles, also appeared on the album, which was so well received that it led to a seven album contract with the GRP label. Those albums, based largely upon Kevin’s compositions, gained him a wide audience through extensive radio airplay and showed the range of his skill on both acoustic and electric guitar. Kevin became a full-time bandleader, and traveled the world with his group. In 1992 Kevin moved to the West Coast to assume the guitar spot in The Tonight Show Band. In 1995 the leader’s torch was passed to Eubanks, whose versatility enabled him to write and choose music that satisfied the huge and varied audience for the show. He assumed the role as Leno’s sidekick, sometimes participating in skits, and his engaging personality as well as his musicianship drew attention. The position afforded Kevin the opportunity to work with fine musicians from all genres. As a result of living close to LA, Kevin has become involved in writing scores for both TV movies and full-length independent feature films. He loves to do volunteer work for charities and maintains an active relationship with the organization dearest to his heart, The Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. He has appeared on various TV shows from Hollywood Squares to VIP to Girlfriends, Days of Our Lives to name a few. But his passion is clearly seen when he is on stage performing.

Kevin and his touring band, which features Marvin “Smitty” Smith and Bill Pierce, who holds the Woodwind chair at Berklee College of Music, continue to travel the country on tour. “It’s wonderful to feel the music surging through you and touching people from the inside out. That’s what happens when everyone is open and the music takes hold. What an honor it is to be invited into so many peoples lives, if only for a brief melodious moment.” Kevin has recorded several CD’s that feature various distinguished artists, and plans to release them on a new label called “INSOUL MUSIC.” He was also awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Berklee College of Music. In March, 2010, Kevin was named the Artistic Diretor of the Jazz In The Classroom Program for The Thelonius Monk Institute of Jazz, where he works with young upand-coming middle and high school musicians in the Los Angeles public schools. “Young people need to be able to express themselves in ways that educate, uplift, and inspire self confidence,” Eubanks remarked. “It’s important that everyone in the neighborhood gets to see that.” As one of the most accomplished guitarists of his or any generation, Eubanks has deservedly become known to millions through music, TV, and what so many artists know so well, “lots of hard work.”

The Temptations and The Four Tops The Temptations For more than fifty years, The Temptations have prospered, propelling popular music with a series of smash hits, and sold-out performances throughout the world. “The crowds are bigger, the sales are sizzling,” says one industry report. “The outpouring of affection for this super-group has never been greater”. The history of The Temptations is the history of contemporary American pop. An essential component of the original Motown machine, that amazing engine invented by Berry Gordy, The Temps began their musical life in Detroit in the early sixties. It wasn’t until 1964 however, that the Smokey Robinson written-and-produced “The Way You Do the things You Do” turned the guys into stars. An avalanche of hits followed, many of which...”My Girl,” for instance...attained immortality. “It’s Growing,” “Since I Lost My Baby;,” “Get Ready,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” “Beauty Is only Skin Deep,” “I Wish It Would Rain”...the hits kept coming. The classic lineup was Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin. Beyond the fabulous singing, The temps became known for smooth stepping and flawless presentations. The Temptations Walk became a staple of American style. Flair, flash and class. Millions of fans saw their Temptations as cultural heroes. When the sixties and seventies turned political, The Temps got serious. They changed their tone, dress and music. Producer Norman Whitfield led the way. His Temptations hits, many featuring Dennis Edwards who had replaced David Ruffin, burned with intensity. “Runaway Child” “Cloud Nine,” “I Can’t Get Next to You,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone”, and “Psychedelic Shack” still smolder. Other stellar singers...Richard Street, Ali-Ollie Woodson...joined, adding their luster to the groups’ growing fame. No matter the change in personnel, The Temptations remained true to The Temptations tradition. They survived the whims of fashion, whether disco or techno, and stuck to their guns. “Great singing,” says Otis, “will always prevail.” In the eighties, The Temps prevailed with smashes like the Otis Williams’ penned “Treat Her Like A Lady.” Then in the nineties, another Temptation explosion: It began with their appearance on Motown 25 in 1983; it continued with the NBC mini-series that chronicled the group’s history, a ratings triumph over two nights in prime time. An Emmy Award followed.

Then came a series of acclaimed records: For Lovers Only, a collection of love standards, termed an instant classic by critics, remains among the most cherished of all Temptations recordings. Phoenix Rising, went through the roof, a platinumplus mega-hit featuring “Stay,” the Narada Michael Walden produced song that topped the charts. Ear Resistible nailed a Grammy and a legion of new fans. Awesome, released in 2001 is The Temptations at their freshest, strongest, and most appealing. Reflections was released in 2005, nominated for a Grammy and brought to the world The Temptations versions of some of Motown’s greatest songs. The current lineup consists of: Otis Williams Ron Tyson Terry Weeks Joe Herndon Bruce Williamson “The more we change,” says veteran Ron Tyson, “the more we stay true to ourselves. We’re about singing straight-up soul. It’s a style that will live on forever.” “The Temps have always been known for great lead singer’s”, says Williams. “Today we have three of the greatest leads in the proud history of the group.” The soaring voice of Ron Tyson, perhaps the best high tenor in the business. Terry Weeks, who grew up in Alabama and spent eight years in the Air Force before his makeshift audition for Otis on a Hollywood street corner, who’s smooth textures and tones, express an extraordinary full range of feelings. Newest member, Bruce Williamson started singing in a church choir at the ripe age of 5 years old and hasn’t stop since. He has sung in everything from commercials to musical to the top showrooms in Las Vegas. Bruce was introduced to Otis by Ron Tyson. “Our challenge,” says Williams, “is to live in the present while respecting the past. Our past is filled with riches only a fool would discard. At the same time, we thrive on competition. As a Motowner, I grew up in the most competitive musical atmosphere imaginable. But we also understand that for a group with history, no matter how glorious that history might be, reinvention is the name of the game.” “When I tell people we are God’s group,” says Otis, a remarkable modest man, “I don’t mean it arrogantly. It’s just that we have been tested

time and again and keep coming back. We have suffered the death of so many legendary singers... Paul Williams, David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, Melvin Franklin. Other’s like Dennis Edwards, Richard Street, Ali-Ollie Woodson and Theo Peoples have left, and yet our unity is tighter, our sound brighter and our popularity greater. Someone has watched over this group. Someone has protected our integrity. Someone has said...just go on singing and it’ll get better.” And so THE TEMPTATIONS go on.......and on.....and on........ The Four Tops The quartet, originally called the Four Aims, made their first single for Chess in 1956, and spent seven years on the road and in nightclubs, singing pop, blues, Broadway, but mostly jazz—four-part harmony jazz. When Motown’s Berry Gordy Jr. found out they had hustled a national “Tonight Show” appearance, he signed them without an audition to be the marquee act for the company’s Workshop Jazz label. That proved short-lived, and Stubbs’ powerhouse baritone lead and the exquisite harmonies of Fakir, Benson, and Payton started making one smash after another with the writing-producing trio Holland-Dozier-Holland. Their first Motown hit, “Baby I Need Your Loving” in 1964, made them stars and their sixties track record on the label is indispensable to any retrospective of the decade. Their songs, soulful and bittersweet, were across-the-board successes. “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch),” a no. 1 R&B and Pop smash in 1965, is one of Motown’s longest-running chart toppers; it was quickly followed by a longtime favorite, “It’s The Same Old Song” (no. 2 R&B/no. 5 pop). Their commercial peak was highlighted by a romantic trilogy: the no. 1 “Reach Out I’ll Be There,” “Standing In The Shadows Of Love” (no. 2 R&B/no. 6 pop) and “Bernadette” (no. 3 R&B/no. 4 pop)—an extraordinary run of instant H-D-H classics. Other Tops hits from the decade included “Ask The Lonely,”“Shake Me, Wake Me (When It’s Over),” “Something About You,” “You Keep Running Away,” “7-Rooms Of Gloom” and their covers of “Walk Away Renee” and “If I Were A Carpenter.” The group was also extraordinarily popular in the U.K. After H-D-H split from Motown, producer Frank Wilson supervised the R&B Top 10 hits “It’s All In The Game” and “Still Water (Love)” at the start of the seventies. The Tops also teamed with Motown’s top girl group, the Supremes, post-Diana Ross. Billing themselves The Magnificent Seven for a series of albums, they hit with a cover of “River Deep - Mountain High.” When Motown left Detroit in 1972 to move to Los Angeles, the steadfast Tops decided to stay at home, and with another label. They kept up a string of hits with ABC-Dunhill for the next few years: “Ain’t No Woman (Like The One I’ve Got),” a

Top 5 hit; the Top 10 “Keeper Of The Castle”; and the R&B Top 10’s “Are You Man Enough (from the movie Shaft In Africa),” “Sweet Understanding Love,” “One Chain Don’t Make No Prison” (later covered by Santana), “Midnight Flower” and the disco perennial “Catfish.” In 1980 the group moved to Casablanca Records. The following year they were at no. 1 again, with “When She Was My Girl,” making them one of the few groups to have hits in three consecutive decades. They also scored R&B Top 40s with the ballads “Tonight I’m Gonna Love You All Over” and “I Believe In You And Me,” the original version of the 1996 Whitney Houston smash. And the Tops were heard in the film Grease 2 with “Back To School Again.” By 1983, riding the wave of the company’s 25th anniversary celebration, the Tops were back with Motown and H-D-H. The reunion resulted in the R&B Top 40 hits “I Just Can’t Walk Away” and “Sexy Ways.” They signed with Arista later in the decade, and there they racked up their final solo Top 40 hit, “Indestructible,” which was the theme of the 1988 Summer Olympics. That year they also partnered with Aretha Franklin, a longtime friend from Detroit, for the Top 40 R&B “If Ever A Love There Was.” During this period, Stubbs stepped out and gained notoriety for voicing the man-eating plant Audrey II in the film musical Little Shop Of Horrors, for which he sang the cult classic “Mean Green Mother From Outer Space.” In 1990, with 24 Top 40 pop hits to their credit, the Four Tops were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Though they would no longer have hits on record, the group continued to be a hit in concert, touring incessantly, a towering testament to the enduring legacy of the Motown Sound they helped shape and define. Following Payton’s death in 1997, the group briefly worked as a trio until Theo Peoples, a former Temptation, was recruited to restore the group to a quartet. When Stubbs subsequently grew ill, Peoples became the lead singer and former Motown artist-producer Ronnie McNeir was enlisted to fill Payton’s spot. In 2005, when Benson died, Payton’s son Roquel replaced him. For Rolling Stone’s 2004 article “The Immortals – The Greatest Artists Of All Time,” Smokey Robinson remembered: “They were the best in my neighborhood in Detroit when I was growing up (and) the Four Tops will always be one of the biggest and the best groups ever. Their music is forever.”

Craig Ferguson: Hot & Grumpy Tour: Walking the Earth Craig Ferguson entered the world of late night comedy following a diverse and eclectic career that encompasses film, television and the stage. Since taking the helm of CBS’s “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” in 2005, the show has set all-time viewer records in the nine years that it has been on the air. On April 28th, Ferguson announced that he will be stepping down as host of “The Late Late Show” in December 2014. Ferguson was most recently heard on the big screen as he reprised his character ‘Gobber’ in “How to Train Your Dragon 2.” On September 22nd, 2014, the new syndicated game show “Celebrity Name Game” debuted with Ferguson as host, from executive producers Courteney Cox and David Arquette. “Celebrity Name Game” puts celebrities on the spot as they compete to identify famous names based on improvised clues. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Ferguson got his start in the entertainment industry as a drummer for some of the worst punk bands in the U.K., a profession he held for several years. Following his musical stint, he began bartending in a local pub in Glasgow where he was introduced to Michael Boyd, the artistic director of The Tron Theatre in Glasgow, who persuaded Ferguson to give acting a go. After several low paying acting gigs, Ferguson discovered he had a knack for comedy and was soon the star of his own BBC television show, “The Ferguson Theory.” After several stints on the English comedy circuit, Ferguson brought his act to America in 1995 to star with Betty White and Marie Osmond in the short-lived ABC comedy, “Maybe This Time.” After the show ended, ABC decided to add the talented Scotsman to “The Drew Carey Show,” playing Drew Carey’s boss, ‘Nigel Wick,’ from 1996-2003. Ferguson has also become a huge success on the North American comedy circuit. He has performed to sold out theaters all over the country and sold out Carnegie Hall in October, 2010. In October 2012 Craig performed his highly praised stand-up at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall to a sold out audience. Additionally, Craig has three widely acclaimed stand-up comedy specials, “A Wee Bit O’ Revolution”, which premiered on Comedy Central and was released on Home Video in 2009, and “Does This Need To Be Said,” which premiered on Epix in 2011, aired on Comedy Central and was released on Home Video. In the summer of 2013, Craig released his third comedy album “I’m Here to Help,” garnering him a Grammy nomination for Best Comedy Album. The stand-up special premiered on Netflix and was later released on DVD. Ferguson has written the feature films “The Big Tease” and “Saving Grace.” In 2003, he made his directorial debut with “I’ll Be There,” which he also

wrote and starred in. “I’ll Be There” went on to receive the Audience Award for Best Film at the Aspen, Dallas, and Valencia film festivals. Craig was also named “best new director” at the Napa Valley Film Festival. Ferguson’s other film credits include, “Niagra Motel,” “Lenny the Wonder Dog,” “Prendimi l’anima,” “Life Without Dick,” “Chain of Fools” and “Born Romantic.” In 2010, Craig lent his voice to the animated feature “How to Train Your Dragon” as the Viking, ‘Gobber.’ In 2011 Craig portrayed ‘Owl’ in the highly anticipated Disney classic “Winnie The Pooh.” In the summer of 2012, Craig was heard as the voice of ‘Lord Macintosh’ in Disney’s animated feature, “Brave.” In April 2006, Ferguson debuted his first novel entitled Between The Bridge and The River, which made it onto the best seller list. In the novel, two childhood friends from Scotland and two illegitimate half-brothers from the deep South suffer and enjoy all manner of bizarre adventures which, it turns out, are somehow interconnectedand, even more surprisingly, meaningful. The eclectic cast of characters features Socrates, Carl Jung, and Tony Randall; while love, greed, hope, revenge, organized religion, and Hollywood also make special appearances. This past February, Between The Bridge and The River -- narrated by Craig himself -- was released on audiobook. Craig came into his own on the “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” winning his first Emmy nomination in 2006, as well as receiving the 2009 Peabody Award for Excellence in Broadcasting for his interview with Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Craig became the topic of conversation within the media and a growing trend of success in 2010. In February 2008 he succeeded in becoming a US Citizen mentioning that this is his home after thirteen years and “my heart is here.” Soon after, Craig had landed himself the biggest date of all; a date with President Bush hosting the White House Correspondence Dinner. Critics raved of his witty and comical deliverance speech to the 3,000 attendees who included political journalists, celebrities, and Washington’s power players. In 2009, Harper Collins published Ferguson’s memoir America On Purpose - a book about why and how late night funnyman, Craig Ferguson became an American. The book was listed on the New York Times bestseller list and continues to sell well to date. Ferguson also serves on the board of the Lollipop Theater Network. The mission of the Lollipop Theater Network is to bring movies that are currently in theatrical release to hospitalized children facing chronic and life threatening illness nationwide.
