SERVING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY Littles in Sales The Texas A&M Sales Club partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Brazos Valley in hosting the first-ever

Littles in Sales Program.

In this

program, Sales Club Co-Philanthropy officers, Jessica Dennis and Ernest Broomfield

put

together

four

meetings

that

taught

and

mentored

local

students, ages 12 to 16, from area schools.

The meetings covered a sales overview, the importance of marketing in sales, how to sell themselves in a job interview, and a sales competition.

The sales competition was a mock job interview where students were given the opportunity to speak on the strengths and tools that they have learned throughout this process. In the end, the winning student won $200, and the other students each got $50 in gift cards.

This experience was not only rewarding for the "little" participants, but also it allowed the "big" participants to develop as leaders and mentors. We look forward to continuing this relationship with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Brazos Valley in future semesters.

Marketing Insights The

Reynolds and Reynolds Sales Leadership Institute

is working with

Davila Middle School in Bryan, TX this semester to deliver marketing content for an Intro to Business Course that is taught to 7th and 8th graders.

The course, entitled

Marketing Insights,

contains 12 lessons delivered by

online modules. Students also have an accompanying course pack in which they develop their own marketing plan for a lemonade stand. By the end of the course, the students will be ready to market their own products.

Any

students who follow through, and put their plan into action, are entered into a drawing for some great prizes.

Module 1

Marketing Insights

The Institute’s goal is two part: serving the community and planting seeds.

The program will be expanded to other schools and districts in the fall. The hope is that some of those middle school students will start thinking about business education early and eventually join us at Mays.

In addition, as on-campus visits become feasible, our sales students will take an active part in reaching out to the young middle school scholars. The Sales students will tell the story of their path to college and the why behind their choice of sales as a career.

FACULTY SPOTLIGHT Brian Molhusen

Thank you, Professor Molhusen In May 2021, Brian Molhusen (’78) is officially retiring from his position as executive professor with the

Reynolds and

Reynolds Sales Leadership Institute. For the past six years, Professor Molhusen has primarily taught Sales Leadership and Managing Business-to-Business Relationships, which are upper-level marketing courses in the sales track. Prior to joining Mays Business School, Professor Molhusen spent 37 years in sales, recruiting, and management roles at Hormel Foods. His extensive experience was integrated into his teaching, where he helped students understand the complexity of many sales interactions and how to effectively navigate the multitude of decisions sales managers face.

In addition to the impact Professor Molhusen made in the classroom, he also helped countless students with their sales career search. His previous experience in recruiting made him an insightful resource for students looking guidance while searching and determining the right career choice.

The

Reynolds and Reynolds Sales Leadership Institute owes Professor Molhusen a debt of gratitude for his dedication to

the students and to the development of the Institute over the past six years. Thankfully, his legacy will live on as he migrates to being a ‘friend’ of the Institute, where he will still participate in our events and help coach our students.
