US-based film-maker Raj Amit Kumar has launched artists’ collaborative Dark Frames, which aims to coproduce and sell niche and experimental independent cinema from the US and
India. The venture is looking at co-producing and acquiring six to eight films with strong socio-political elements every year. Dark Frames has forged partnerships with US indie film-making consultancy
Circus Road Films, Italian sales agency The Open Reel and Indian marketing and distribution consultancy Luminosity Pictures. US producer Michele Weisler (The Ring) and lawyer Michael Golland are also
on board the collaborative venture, along with artists such as sound designer Resul Pookutty (Slumdog Millionaire) and actor Victor Banerjee (A Passage To India). The collaborative has recently produced Kumar’s Blemished Light and acquired Prashant Bhargava’s Patang.
