Omaha-based Thiele Geotech, which offers geotechnical, material and environmental engineering services to about 500 clients in 15 states, has added monitoring instrumentation to its growing list of services. CEO Daniel J. Thiele said such an initiative is a continuation of a philosophy that has directed expansion of the firm for 25 years. “We adapt to the needs of our customers,” Thiele said. Projects include regional work at smaller airports, landfills, and demolition and construction of large projects ranging from the Crossroads, the city of Omaha’s combined sewer overflow work, Heartwood Preserve, and for Offutt Air Force Base. Work for numerous sanitary and improvement districts that involves testing of sewers and streets is on the increase. Thiele has seen the firm’s employee ranks increase from 45 to 60 over the past nine years. The growth opportunities offered by instrumentation have created two Continued on page 27.

“Keep it simple” seems to be the mantra of Sunnyside on Center owner Travis Liebig, from the new restaurant’s basic breakfast sandwich, to the hand-picked ingredients and menu options, to the fashionable décor and tagline that will be painted on the wall: “The friendly breakfast spot.” Business has been brisk for

the startup that opened to the public in February 2021. Situated in a standalone building at 35th and Center streets, Sunnyside has focused on curbside and takeout and is easing into a dine-in option as more people get vaccinated to fend off the year-plus long pandemic.
