Embracing the Season of Growth: Summer in Mississauga

As we step into the vibrant days of summer, the Mississauga Board of Trade is excited to share our reflections on the past quarter and our plans for the coming months. This season not only brings warmth and sunshine but also an array of opportunities for our business community to thrive and innovate especially given the start to cuts in interest rates.

The spring months were marked by significant milestones and achievements for MBOT. We hosted several successful events that fostered collaboration and networking among our members. Our annual Economic Outlook event provided valuable insights into market trends and economic forecasts, helping businesses to strategize effectively. Additionally, our monthly networking mixers continued to be a popular platform for members to connect, exchange ideas, and forge new partnerships.

In May, I had the pleasure of attending the Ontario Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting in Timmins, Ontario. I am happy to share that MBOT was awarded the Outstanding Advocacy Campaign Award. It is an honour to be recognized amongst the best Chambers in Ontario for our advocacy one of the pillars of operation.

We hosted the annual Business Awards of Excellence and received over 100 nominations in 11 categories. The event was a great success and the stories of all the nominees were inspirational. Congratulations again to all nominees and respected winners!

The Hon. Victor Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, joined our membership for an insightful discussion on recent investments and growth of Ontario’s life sciences sector, advanced manufacturing industry, and automotive supply chain.

On May 29th, Mississauga Board of Trade, in partnership with Sheridan College, United Way Greater Toronto, and Metamorphosis Network, hosted a Mayoral Candidates Debate. We congratulate Mayor Carolyn Parrish on winning the election. MBOT looks forward to continued collaboration and contributing to Mississauga’s success.

As we enjoy the lively days of summer, MBOT remains committed to our mission of supporting and advocating for the business community in Mississauga. We believe that by fostering innovation, promoting member resources, and engaging with our community, we can continue to build a prosperous and resilient business environment.

We encourage all our members to take advantage of the opportunities this season offers and to participate in the various events and initiatives planned. Together, we can make this summer a season of growth and success for all.
