14-16 School Link Programme
Middlesbrough College offers Key Stage 4 students a bespoke, flexible day release programme of between 2-5 days per week. The programme has been designed in partnership with schools, the local authority and young people. We aim to provide all young people with the skills and knowledge to transition to post 16 education, employment or training.
Who is this suitable for?
This programme is aimed at students who feel disengaged or are struggling with main stream education with attendance and behavioural issues.
What will the students study? Vocational Subject: There are a wide range of options including: • Art & Design • Construction • Catering • Engineering • Games Design • Hair & Beauty • Health & Care • Games & Media Students will work in a practical, vocational setting developing work ready, industry skills.
Maths and English
We deliver GCSE content in preparation for the exams alongside the functional skills exams.
Personal development
Students will study and work towards an award and/ or certificate in employability skills supported with a comprehensive PSHE to encourage their wider development.
Cost
£90 per student per day or £450 per week.
Group support in lessons
All students on the programme will have a pastoral mentor who will support with their studies on a group basis.
Outstanding learning facilities
A range of realistic training facilities that replicate industry are available. This includes a commercial training kitchen, operational hair & beauty salons and an outdoor construction yard.
Uniform and dress code
Students will not be expected to wear a school uniform. All students will however be expected to adhere to the College dress code. Any Personal Protective Equipment for vocational areas such as construction or hair & beauty must be worn within these areas. All students will be given a student ID badge which they must wear on a lanyard around their neck at all times.

Middlesbrough College is a fantastic place to study, situated just a short walk from both Middlesbrough train and bus stations. All students will benefit from free bus travel and reimbursed train travel, including a number of dedicated bus routes direct to the College.
