Eve Gowing Mix it Up

Eve is now in her final year of her Production Design for Stage and Screen degree at The Northern School of Art.

“I really enjoyed studying at Middlesbrough College. I studied the Mix it up programme which allowed me to combine A Levels with a BTEC. I didn’t know what I wanted to do when I was at College, so this unique combination allowed me to keep my options open and study the subjects that I enjoyed. I would recommend this route to any school leavers who are unsure about their next steps. The range of subjects the College offers is amazing and was the main reason why I decided to come and study at Middlesbrough College.”

Since finishing her A Levels at MC6, Iman has completed an undergraduate degree in Biology at Durham University. Iman is now studying a PHD, researching the behaviour of Mosquitos and their brain activity.

“I had such a positive experience while studying here and it really has given me the best start to my career journey. The tutors have an unrivalled wealth of experience and are such an inspiration – I want to pass that on and inspire the next cohort of students!

“As well as the support from my tutors, I also spoke with the Middlesbrough College Careers team who were incredibly helpful. Without the Careers team’s expert guidance I don’t think I would be where I am today!”

Harley is studying for a Professional Economist degree apprenticeship with the Bank of England. He will be based in London and complete his economics degree with the University of Kent.

“My experience at the College has been great, my tutors have been so helpful and supportive. I’m looking forward to starting my apprenticeship and my career. I’ve always had an interest in banking and finance and knew that it’s what I wanted to go into.”

Environmental Science, Biology and Psychology

Previous school: Laurence Jackson School

“My ambitions are to study primatology at University, so choosing to study environmental science alongside biology and psychology will help me to achieve my ambitions as these are the most relevant A Levels for my degree. I also chose to study environmental science because of how interesting the topics are, and I really enjoy learning about conservation and biodiversity. I like how the topic isn’t just all straight facts and that we have class discussions about the subjects. If anyone is thinking of studying environmental science with MC6 I would recommend, it’s a really interesting subject to take and the ways we are taught can be really fun and engaging!”
