Find the right course for you Full-time Honours Degrees (Level 6)

Our undergraduate honours degrees are threeyear undergraduate programmes resulting in the award of bachelor’s degrees in Arts, Science or Engineering (BA, BSc, BEng).

Full and Part-time Foundation Degrees (Level 4-5) A foundation degree is broadly equivalent to the first two years of a bachelor’s degree, a Higher National Diploma (HND) and Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE). Created in partnership with employers, foundation degrees focus on developing in-demand skills. It is also possible to ‘top-up’ a foundation degree to a full degree by completing a Degree ‘top-up’ award.

Full and Part-time Top-up Degrees (Level 6)

We offer professional teaching qualifications for individuals who aspire to work in the lifelong learning sector educational settings, such as further education colleges and adult community settings.

Higher Apprenticeships (Level 4-7)

A higher apprenticeship is a real job and gives you the same great benefits as other apprenticeships allowing you to earn whilst you learn. You will receive training in the workplace enabling you to progress up to the next level academically, gain invaluable work experience and improve your salary and job prospects.

Masters Degrees (Level 7)

Upon completion of your HND or foundation degree, you can top up your qualification to a full honours degree.

Full and Part-time HNC/HNDs (Level 4-5) Higher National Certificates (HNCs) and Diplomas (HNDs) are vocationally orientated qualifications specifically designed to provide practical, job related skills.

Full and Part-time CertEd/Professional Graduate Certificate in Education and Training (Level 4-5)

A Masters degree is a post-graduate qualification that offers a higher level of study, providing an opportunity to specialise in your chosen field and significantly improve your employment potential.

We offer a Student Counselling Service to help you with any difficulties you may experience. This service is available to all students and is free and confidential.

College network account

You will have access to your own College network account which will enable you to access course information and announcements, course handbooks, week by week resources and assignment information. This can be accessed in College or at home. We provide full access to the Microsoft Office 365 suite and you can install all the Office apps on your own devices. Macs, PCs, Android and iOS smartphones.

Employability and careers support

Our team of Careers Advisers are on hand to provide free information, advice and guidance on the range of progression opportunities available to you after completing your University level qualification. Our team also includes a specialist employability coach who can support you with CV writing and interview preparation.

Our Higher Education Centre based at 2 Queen’s Square in Middlesbrough is a dedicated teaching and study space exclusively for adults on our Access to HE and University level courses. Here you will find large classroom spaces and many independent study areas as well as social space. Taking the lead on technical training

New employer-led institutes of technology offer higher level technical education to help close skills gaps in key STEM areas. Middlesbrough College is the sole Tees Valley deliverer and partner college, supporting the North East Institute of Technology (NEIoT) which is led by New College Durham. Our ÂŁ20m STEM Engineering Centre is a unique and inspirational space, allowing you to learn new skills in a simulated industrial site and gain vital competencies required by the sector. With a focus on hands-on experience, our courses are developed with driving innovation in mind to ensure you are at the forefront of the latest learning and technology. Due for completion in August 2021, our STEM Centre will be expanded to include a dedicated higher educational environment in a technical setting. The Centre will feature a bespoke university level study area, classrooms and tutorial zones, with easy access to the technical and specialist equipment and facilities required for a range of technical courses.

Taking savings higher We know that life is expensive so that’s why we offer a cost effective route into Higher Education. In addition to offering more teaching hours, small classes and more 1:1 tutorials, our University level courses are also great value.

On full-time awards, you can save up to £2,250 over three years studying a full honours degree and our Foundation Degree plus top-up route to an honours degree could save you £6,750 over three years.

Financing your studies If you are worried about the cost of Higher Education, it might help to know there are a range of financial support schemes available to help you. Our friendly Student Services Department can offer you advice and guidance on any available loans or bursary options. Tuition Fee Loans

Full and part-time students studying a qualification worth at least 30 credits can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan available through the Student Loans Company. You don’t have to begin making repayments on your Tuition Fee Loan until you’re earning over £25,000. Taking out a loan might seem nerve-racking, but your Student Loan won’t affect your credit rating and it won’t prevent you from getting loans in the future.

Maintenance Loans

As well as the Tuition Fee Loan, if you are a full-time UK student you can also apply for a Maintenance Loan from the UK government to help with expenses such as accommodation, food and bills.

Employer Sponsorship

Employers may be able to pay part or all of your fees up front if you ask them. If your study relates to your job then you will get to study a qualification that will improve your work performance and advance your career, plus your employer will benefit from a better qualified, more productive and motivated employee!

Grants for Disabled Students

Applicants who have a disability can claim the Disabled Students Allowance via the Student Finance England/Student Loan Company. Eligible conditions include a: • Learning difficulty • Mental health condition • Physical disability • Long-term health condition For more information visit www.gov.uk/studentfinance and search for DSA. Applications open from February half-term and can take 14 weeks to process so make sure you apply as early as possible!

A little extra from Middlesbrough College - Bursary Scheme If you are studying BA (Hons) Digital Video Production, BSc (Hons) Audiovisual Technology or BSc (Hons) Sound and Music Technology you will be eligible for a bursary scheme of £1000 across your first and second year of study. The Bursary is not meanstested and is split into yearly instalments across the duration of the course. The Bursary can be used to help you to purchase course books, equipment, travel and accommodation.

An Access to Higher Education (HE) Diploma is the perfect option for you. We know that being out of education for a while can be daunting, but our Access to HE Diplomas are designed to make the transition to Higher Education easier. Access to HE Diplomas provide an affordable, flexible one-year route to gain a qualification that will allow you to study a University Level course. Our one-year courses will prepare you with the right skills and knowledge to study at degree level. Most Access Diplomas can be completed in one year with study across 2-3 days of the week and several of our courses are offered as evening sessions.

The programme is also mapped to the UKSCA ASCC guidelines and assessment methods, with the intention of supporting you to in your application for UKSCA ASCC status, the gold standard of the industry.
