What are the benefits?

Digital devices are a great way for you to capture your work and showcase your skills. You can capture activities on video, create and share surveys and polls, record group discussions and tutor feedback, all with the click of a button.

New in-built AI features will also help you improve your spelling, grammar and punctuation, create dynamic presentations and even turn speech-to-text. Students can use these devices in college or at home to help with research assignments and homework.

What device will I receive? The college has a stock of 4000 devices with two main types (valued at over £400 each). Specifications are listed below: Dell Latitude 3120 2 in 1 • Intel Celeron N5100 Processor • 11.6 HD Touchscreen • 4GB RAM • 64GB Hard Drive • Dual Camera and Microphone • AC Power Adapter Ideal for vocational courses

Who is entitled to a free college device? The college is aiming for all full time students to have access to a personal device from the academic year 2023/24. This is being phased in, based on the amount of online course content and assignment work students have to do on their course. Free loan devices will be distributed at enrolment for the academic year 2021/22 to all eligible students. We will also continue to loan a device to any continuing students who loaned a device during 2020/21 and who are still studying with us in 2021/22. This will be clarified after October half term. The free loan device scheme will be expanded in the academic years 2022/23 and 2023/24 to cover all fulltime students – including Access to HE courses.
