Did you know? We deliver a wide range of apprenticeships specific to industry needs
We offer high-quality work-based learning for our students as part of their study programme. Some courses require work placements to complete them.
Work placements can be different in length and design, depending on the employer and student’s needs. You can decide what tasks and projects the students do, as long as they are trained and supervised.
We have three types of work placements:
Projects: Negotiable pieces of work with an employer, either group or individual, in the workplace during term time. We ask employers to provide a brief and agree on working methods and timescales with us before starting.
Short work placements: From a few days to several weeks, as a block week or set days over a few weeks. These work placements give valuable experience in an industry related to the student’s course or career. Activities may include shadowing or working within one team.
T Level industry placement: A 45-day work placement as part of a 2-year qualification for 16–19-year-olds designed with employers. This will help you develop young people for the future and access some of the brightest talent in the market.
Work placements benefit your business by:
❱ Providing an extra route for your current projects using students with relevant skills
❱ Offering an opportunity for your employees to manage and mentor others and improve their leadership skills
❱ Bringing fresh and creative ideas from students that can benefit your business
❱ Showing your support for local young people and improve their employability and career prospects
❱ Encouraging the next generation to work in your sector and develop your workforce with the skills you need in the future
❱ Helping you recruit talented and motivated young people who can become your future employees
