Taking the lead on tech and T Levels With a unique offer in the region, spanning courses from every occupational sector and at every level, people with all sorts of ambitions are realising their potential at Middlesbrough College. And we’re ambitious too. That’s why we’re extremely proud that we are the only College in Tees Valley to be in the final phases of being awarded Institute of Technology status and the only local College to deliver T Levels in 2021. As one of only 12 Institutes of Technology in the country, Middlesbrough College will be the dedicated technical training hub in the Tees Valley, working alongside partners including Newcastle University and Nissan to drive innovation in the sector through new and distinctive learning. As an IoT provider, we’ll deliver a range of courses that provide clear routes into skilled employment and pathways for progression, comparable to going to university. Closely aligned to the skills gap in our region, courses will help create a diverse range of technologyenabled jobs in digital and creative sectors as well as advanced manufacturing and construction.
Largest specialist engineering provider in the area.

We’re also delighted to have been chosen by the Department for Education to deliver T Levels from September 2021. The new qualifications have been developed with employers to equip learners with the skills they need to enter the world of work. The courses, which will be equivalent to three A Levels, include work placements of at least 45 days – allowing students to get essential hands-on experience in their chosen industry. Placements will feature sector-specific learning programmes so students can hit the ground running once they start full-time roles. For students they’re a route to accessing quality careers in a range of sectors – many where skills gaps have emerged, meaning the earning potential is improved. With the focus on hands-on experience, T Levels are also a great opportunity for employers who want to shape the way young people are trained to meet their future needs. We’re dedicated to opening up the possibilities for school leavers, career changes and those looking to learn new skills – and as the only IoT College and T Levels provider in Tees Valley we provide employment-focussed learning and training that helps take you higher.
