Operation Imagination Operation Imagination is a summer camp at the International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) that inspires, intrigues and delights children of all ages! Campers don’t even realize they are learning because they are having so much fun! Classes are held Tuesday through Friday, and each class has a maximum of 25 students. Our experienced Education staff will supervise and guide your child as he or she explores, creates, and learns. McAllen ISD provides breakfast and lunch for all students. We accept campers at 8:30 am for the morning classes and at 12:45 pm for the afternoon classes. Students in the afternoon classes are welcome to stay for supervised playtime from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm in Rioscape or IMAS’s Children’s Discovery Pavilion. Come learn about all kinds of structures from treehouses to pyramids to sandcastles! Construct miniature buildings of your own design and replicas of famous structures by using surprising materials like popsicle sticks, marshmallows and twigs! DuplicArt (8-9 year olds): Have you ever liked your art so much that you wished you could make copies? Printmaking is exactly that - making copies or replicas of your creations. Campers will design their own stamps, play with inks, textures, and recycled materials, and learn to use cutting tools. “Culture of the Rising Sun” (8-9 & 10-12 year olds): Japan is halfway around the world and at IMAS East meets West! We need your investigative skills to nab the criminal and figure out which piece of art belongs on display! “iCan Podcast” (12-15 year olds): You may be a teen but that doesn’t mean your voice shouldn’t be heard.
