Mat-cercise - Learn basic tumbling forward rolls, toe touches and stretching techniques. Mini-Masterpieces - Work with paint and beads to create your own art by hand. Modern Dance - Express yourself using footwork, coordination and rhythm. Music Mania - Great for beginners. Come and learn about music, instruments and more. Painting & Sculpture - Paint while learning concepts of depth, perspective and color. Performing Folklorico- Learn advanced Mexican folk dance choreography and routines. Instructor approval required. Play indoor and outdoor sports and organized games. Twinkle Toes - Twirl in tights and learn the basic steps of ballet. REGISTRATION INFORMATION Spring registration begins Monday, January 10th.
Payment must be made at time of registration. Forms of payment accepted include cash, check, Visa or Mastercard. Advance registration required, unless otherwise noted. IN-PERSON Register in person at any of McAllen Community Center (Lark, Las Palmas or Palm View) during regular business hours. Registration is taken on a first come, first serve basis, pending space availability. Walk-in registration will not be accepted at the Parks and Recreation Office on Ware Rd. ONLINE Register online at http://www.mcallen.net/vsiwebtrac.html. Create a username and password, as well as enter all pertinent household information before the website will allow you to register online. Online registration payments must be made with a Visa or Mastercard. BY MAIL Mail-in registration must be received in the Parks and Recreation Office no later than Friday, January 28th. RETURNED CHECK POLICY A $25 service charge will be assessed for all returned checks, and students will be removed from classes until finances are settled.
REFUNDS/TRANSFERS We constantly strive to provide the highest quality recreation programs. If, for any reason, you are not completely satisfied with a class or activity, please tell us so we can respond to your concerns. In addition to using your feedback to help us improve, for nearly all of our programs, we will arrange one of the following: TRANSFERS between classes will be allowed only prior to the third class meeting, at no charge. After the third class meeting, transfers may be made, pending space availability, with a charge of $5 per class. REFUNDS for classes will be allowed only prior to the third class meeting and will carry a $5 fee per class. Requests for transfers, credits, and refunds must be in writing. A refund check will be mailed with 30 days following a written request. MEDICAL POLICY The City of McAllen Parks and Recreation Department will not prohibit any person from participating in an activity due to a medical condition or handicap, unless such condition is likely to cause injury to that individual or other participants in the activity. A participant who has been notified by a qualified medical professional that he/she has a medical condition that is likely to cause injury to themselves or other participants, is obligated to inform the Parks and Recreation Department, at the time of registration, of the condition and willingly withdraw from the program or activity if requested by the Department. It is recommended that all participants receive medical authorization before participating in these programs.
