Walking Football with Formentera WFC

Healthy ageing is dependent on many factors such as absence of disease, good physical and mental health and social interaction, especially through team sports or group activities.

At Formentera WFC our primary goal is to provide a group sport for the over 50’s, where the emphasis is on physical and mental wellbeing. We also appreciate that there are those who do not wish to engage at a competitive level and we complement the sporting aspect with a varied social events calendar for those who are looking for companionship, opportunities to socialise and reduce isolation.

We understand that people in an ageing dynamic have concerns about the safety of participation in sport and the chances of being injured. To that end we offer varying levels of engagement, starting with the fun open Wednesday weekly sessions, where the player decides their own level of involvement. The next level challenges players at the Friday training sessions and is aimed at those who wish to enhance their knowledge tactically and physically. This leads on to participation in competitive friendlies, tournaments and the Costa Blanca walking football league.

We are honoured to be fully affiliated to Formentera CF and receive fantastic support from the local townhall. Over the weekend 25th27th May we host our own annual invitational tournament and with the support of many local businesses we are proud to present an international flavour of walking football to the Formentera community.
