DIGITAL PHENOMENA
P ANDREW MCCAUSLAND BFA DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY THESIS II, ANEZKA SEBEK
“The abrupt jolt into other flesh. Matrix gone, a wave of sound and colour…She was moving through a crowded street, past stalls vending discount software, prices feltpenned on sheets of plastic, fragments of music from countless speakers. Smells of urine, free monomers, perfume, patties of frying krill. For a few frightened seconds he fought helplessly to control her body. Then he willed himself into passivity, became the passenger behind her eyes.” William Gibson's Neuromancer, page 56

This interactive installation is meant to provoke those who design/ create such experiences to think about how every aspect of our perceptual experience is being shaped by digital design, exploring how augmented reality challenges our understanding of our environment, and what it means for our own identity within such a perceptually fluid landscape.

The installation consists of a space which is to be occupied by one or multiple users/subjects at any given moment, for any given period of time. View yourself through a live-feed projection situated directly in front of the space. As you speak, clap, or produce any type of sound, you will experience your body distort in real-time within the projected environment.
