NOAA Science on a Sphere

At MCC North Express, you’ll find Nebraska’s only National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Science on a Sphere exhibit. With this amazing room-sized global display, take courses about our world in the stars, animal migration, climate change and biodiversity (just to name a few). Community and Workforce Education

Explore a diverse assortment of noncredit MCC Community and Workforce Education courses, varying from free coding clubs for young girls to writing classes, creating costumes for beginners and anywhere in between. Adult Education

Sign up for our GED and ESL courses through the MCC Adult Education program in collaboration with the Nebraska Department of Education. Perks include free GED testing, NorthStar Digital Literacy curriculum and completing work-ready certificates in your very first class. The Ashton Building, 1218 Nicholas St. Millwork Commons is a collaborative community designed to inspire and support the work of innovators and creators by providing engaging spaces to work and live in, as well as connect and explore. MCC at Yates Illuminates

Yates Community Center, 3260 Davenport St.

Tucked inside the Gifford Park neighborhood on 32nd and Davenport streets is the Yates Community Center. The more than century-old, 30,000-square-foot structure offers classrooms, offices and multipurpose spaces, a commercial kitchen and an auditorium with a stage. Yates has direct access to crosstown thoroughfares on Dodge and 30th streets, as well as to the interstate. It’s close to the Omaha Public Schools Teacher Administration Center, Duchesne Academy, Creighton University, health care facilities, social service agencies and North Downtown. We are proud to be a part of a coalition of organizations working together to elevate and promote the lived experience of our diverse community.

Other Learning Opportunities

Career Advancement

Career coaching provides participants the opportunity to meet with a career coach to start, continue or navigate their education to successful employment. Career coaching uses an individualized approach to focus on goal-setting; intention touch points; and assessments, tools and resources to help individuals find, fuel and pursue training opportunities to reach their employment goals.

MCC integrated education and training provides workplace and college readiness skills so participants can transition from school into livable-wage jobs more seamlessly and quickly.

The MCC Career Placement program prepares people for job success through a workforce preparation training series. After program participants complete the career placement program, they are offered interviews with area businesses. The College’s focus is to ensure individuals receive training and support to enter a high-skill, -demand and -wage job.

The program has been a resounding success: 85% who complete the MCC Career Placement Program receive jobs at an average wage of $25.83 an hour with a plan for advanced training opportunities.
