CULTURAL TOUR: BRUSH FESTIVAL AND BRUSH MUSEUM September 23, 8:30 AM - 4:15 PM
Held annually on Autumnal Equinox Day, a national holiday in Japan, this Calligraphy Brush festival offers a fun and interactive way to learn about calligraphy. It is held in the Kumano, the capital of brushes, located in Northern Hiroshima. At the festival you can participate in the Japanese Calligraphy Contest and explore the food booth village, the brush market and the 10,000 brush displayed street. After lunch we will visit the Fudenosato Kobo (Brush Museum) to learn all about Japanese Calligraphy brushes. There is a fee due at registration (Adults: ¥800, Children ages 6-18: ¥250, Children age 5: Free). Sign-up begins August 25 at the IR&R office in Bldg. 411, Rm. 101.

The tour is open to all SOFA status personnel and their dependents age 5 and older. If this is your initial tour, childcare will be provided for dependents under age 5 and those requiring after school care; however you are responsible for completing the registration packet at the: CDC §253-5584, SAC §253-4769. Participation in subsequent tours will require participants to pay for childcare. **Minimum of 5 patrons are required for this trip, otherwise it will be cancelled.**
