For tiny tots ages 3–6, the most important mode of learning is playtime. Make-believe play of all kinds promotes the development of language, socialization and creativity.

Ages and Stages Open House

rom the moment they enter into this world, children go through distinct stages of development. But because every child is unique in their own loveable way, it’s necessary to know what these milestones generally are so that you can equip both your child and yourself with the necessary support, encouragement and interventions that will effectively nurture your child’s physical, intellectual, language and socioemotional skills. The New Parent Support Program’s 9th Annual Ages and Stages Open House welcomes all expecting parents and families with children under the age of 6 to participate in an informative and interactive event. Here, parents and families can learn about the many available resources on island and leave with valuable information about developmental stages. Those who attend will also learn different ways to increase family con-

nections, provide support, prevent child abuse and neglect, and facilitate child-friendly interaction. The Ages and Stages Open House will take place on April 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Camp Foster Community Center Auditorium.

This event is open to all service members and their families. For more information, call 6450396 or visit mccsokinawa.com/ agesandstages.

305 Latin Bistro

iami, also known as the 305, is a foodie’s paradise—Latin American edition. Visitors tend to gain a few pounds from stuffing their faces with delicious food, and who can blame them? Anyone who’s from the area or has ever tried some of the food the city has to offer is probably wishing they could have at least a taste right now. Too bad Miami is quite the trip from Okinawa. We’ve all certainly gone long enough without some scrumptious Latin cuisine in our life. Wish no more! We can all finally satisfy our cravings because BeachHead on Camp Schwab is bringing Miami to Okinawa! Join BeachHead for the introduction of a new pop-up restaurant—305 Latin Bistro—at the Schwab Festival on March 24 and 25. Treat yourself with bacon-wrapped chicken-on-a-stick (a chicken breast stuffed with ham and cheese, wrapped

in bacon and served on a stick along with homemade cheese sauce) or a wood-fire skirt steak sandwich (made with chimichurri sauce and tucked inside a toasted garlic butter roll)—or both, no one will judge you. Both items are only $7 and you can

add chips and a soda for just two extra bucks! If you still have room, try the $3 chef ’s special dessert (caramel flan). For more information, call BeachHead at 625-2053/2051 or visit mccsokinawa.com/beachhead.
