eaded by former American Idol rocker Chris Daughtry, Daughtry is a quadruple platinum selling band with over 23 million albums sold worldwide. Their album, Daughtry is the fastest-selling debut rock album in Soundscan history. The disc spawned four top 20 hits including “It’s Not Over” and “Home,” both of which were nominated for Grammy Awards in 2008. Following their debut, Daughtry released Leave This Town, which again debuted at number one, making Daughtry the first American Idol alumnus to have two consecutive number one albums. Their fourth and latest album, Baptized, was released in November of last year and features the hit songs “Waiting for Superman” and “Battleships.”

raha Beach adds a bit of texture to the otherwise concrete and neon-lit Hamby Town. Araha beach is part sandy retreat, part fun-park. Right off the cusp of Climax Coffee, night markets, restaurants, San-A and clothing stores, this beach, offers basketball courts, a pirate ship jungle gym, water rides during the summer and picnic tables. Whether you want to take a stroll on the beach after a dinner date or you want to cruise down the zip lines pretending to be a pirate warrior, Araha Beach serves both requests. To get there, drive out Camp Foster’s Kitamae (Commissary) Gate and go right. Continue straight for three traffic lights. At the third light, turn left. You will see San-A on your left. Araha Beach will be straight ahead. Google map link: http://goo.gl/UzPjYv

Agu Pork and Okinawan Cuisine
kinawans are the longest living people on earth. Many credit their longevity to their lifestyle. So what are they doing differently from everyone else? They’re eating some of the healthiest foods on the planet. Okinawans incorporate a variety of foods that are rich in vitamins, minerals and nutrients, leaving little room for contaminants and harmful chemicals. Whether you have lived here for decades or are new to the island, you know that the local cuisine is rarely comprised of only vegetables. One food that you may not associate with a typical healthy diet that is a staple on Okinawa is pork. Okinawan cuisine uses a combination of hearty vegetables, rice, noodles, meat and fish. Some of the highest quality pork is available on this island, but among the variety, Agu Pork is most famous. Why? You can sum it up in one word: quality. Agu pork’s rich,
creamy flavor can be credited to its careful upbringing. The Agu is raised in northern Okinawa, surrounded by placid mountains and natural fresh water. Their feed is a unique blend of seaweed and garlic. Every element of their upbringing is to ensure the qual-
ity of meat is maintained at a high level. This meat can be cooked any way, but the most popular way to enjoy Agu pork are shabu-shabu, yakiniku or sukiyaki. By Kelly Longo
