The Education and Career Services Program offers valuable education programs and library support services to service members, DoD civilians and their families.

Libraries

MCCS Okinawa operates six Marine Corps libraries on island, plus one at Camp Fuji, Japan and one at Camp Mujuk, South Korea, all of which offer full library services. Once registered at any MCCS Library, patrons will have access to all MCB Camp Butler libraries. All locations offer FREE Wi-Fi, computers, iPads and GoPros for checkout, as well as complimentary printing up to 10 pages.

The libraries offer professional military reading titles, popular periodicals and DVD, CD, video game and audio book titles for professional, recreational and educational purposes. Items that are not available at MCCS libraries can be obtained from other USMC libraries and other service libraries. Arrival time varies based on the lending library’s location.

Each library has special programs and events offered throughout the year. The Camp Foster Library’s Art Connections event displays local artists’ work in a variety of media. Library events for adults include language courses, crafts, 3D-modeling classes, coding classes and presentations as well as special holiday celebrations. The libraries also offer a wide range of programming geared toward younger library users including weekly Lapsit (ages 2 years and younger), Tales for Tots (ages 2-3), Preschool Storytimes, Family Storytimes and teen events. To encourage both avid readers and readers that need more motivation to keep the pages turning, the libraries offer the annual Summer Reading Program which regularly attracts in excess of 3,000 participants including adults.

The library’s online catalog and electronic resources can be accessed through home computers, smartphones and tablets at any time. Electronic resources include language courses through Mango Languages; digital magazines via the Libby app; FREE online courses (non-college credit) via Universal Class; scholarly texts and research articles found in the EBSCO and Gale databases; and tutor. com for children of active-duty service members. Furthermore, books on the Commandant of the Marine Corps Professional Reading List are available online through the Navy MWR Digital Library, NKO and Overdrive e-books (in addition to the copies in the physical collection).

For nearly 70 years, Troy University has proudly supported United States servicemen and women and their families. That commitment is just as strong today as it ever has been in the University’s history. Founded in 1887, Troy University is a public, historic, international University with more than 168,000 alumni. Students choose TROY for its quality academic programs, reasonable cost, outstanding faculty and flexible in-class, online and blended class offerings. TROY’s history of service to the military dates back to 1950, when it began offering voluntary education to soldiers at the Army’s Camp Rucker. The University continues that tradition of service by delivering undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate degrees through a variety of on-base, near-base and online programs.

In a world that is becoming increasingly interconnected, the ability to interpret and analyze global trends and concepts, as well as understand other cultures, is of greater importance now than ever before. TROY’s Master of Science in International Relations (MSIR) equips students with the knowledge and skills to be successful on a global stage. One of the largest international relations graduate studies program in the United States, TROY’s MSIR program offers students of diverse backgrounds and undergraduate levels the opportunity to acquire knowledge and understanding of international political and economic trends and activities that help to shape and define the world in which we live and work.

Offering concentrations in Global Studies, National Security Affairs and Regional Affairs, the MSIR is a 12-course, 36-credit-hour program that will expose students to a diverse curriculum covering history, regional studies, comparative government, foreign policy studies, political economy, geography, conflict management, international organization and law, and intercultural relations. Through TROY’s MSIR program, students will emerge with the analytical and theoretical skills necessary for understanding and evaluating the impact of global and national issues on world events.

Through extensive course and scholarship offerings, TROY continues its commitment to keeping higher education affordable for those who sacrifice so much.

TROY’s Military and Family Scholarship caps the cost of tuition at $250 per credit hour for active duty U.S. military, National Guard and Reserve, as well as their spouses and dependents. This capped tuition rate matches the amount covered by Military Tuition Assistance, so military members will have no out-ofpocket tuition costs as they pursue undergraduate or graduate degrees. The scholarship also provides significant savings of up to 50% on tuition costs for spouses and dependents pursuing degrees at undergraduate and graduate levels. As a result of the University’s continued commitment to serving the men and women of the United States military, TROY has been recognized by SR Education Group as a “Top Yellow Ribbon” online college. TROY has also ranked in U.S. News and World Report’s “Best for Veterans” and Military Times’ “Best for Vets” rankings. In addition, the University has been named to The Princeton Review’s “Best of the Southeast” rankings for 16 consecutive years and is among the top regional universities and most innovative universities in the South, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Whether you are looking to advance in your career or chart a new path, you can start your journey with TROY today. Learn more at troy.edu/pacific or by calling DSN 634-7464.
