The G-Core’s carbon fiber extends through the first 7 inches of the shaft. This stabilizes the front-impact area of the shaft for more control and reduces the inconsistencies found in traditional maple shafts.

Triple-Layer Design

The G-Core’s triple-layer design reduces vibration and minimizes shaft distortion. This increases radial consistency, which promotes enhanced accuracy and stability.

CT Technology

The G-Core utilizes our proprietary CT Technology (Carbon Tenon): a carbon fiber ferrule core that results in greater strength, efficiency and precision. This results in a stronger ferrule assembly with maximum impact properties and enhanced feedback. The red dampening device at the base of the ferrule helps reduce shaft vibration upon impact.

Everest Tip by Tiger ®

Each Everest laminated tip is individually tested for consistency, hardness and quality. It shapes like a hard tip, hits like a medium, but has the control of a soft tip. Everest® tips have 10 layers that include a red warning layer to indicate when it needs replacement. ®

Radial Consistency

Radial consistency is the shaft’s ability to perform the same way on every shot, regardless of its orientation. The carbon fiber core technology found in the G-Core and i-Shaft makes them the most radial consistent shafts on the market. Both shafts will consistently provide a straighter cue ball path, minimizing the need to compensate for spin and throw.

High-Performance Shaft Comparison

McDermott’s i-Shaft and G-Core each have their own unique core construction to implement the triple-layer carbon fiber technology. The diagrams below show the carbon fiber placement in the i-Shaft and G-Core.

The i-Shaft’s carbon fiber starts at the ferrule and continues through the entire shaft, making it the most radial consistent shaft on the market. This minimizes the inconsistencies experienced with an all-maple shaft. The i-Shaft also uses McDermott’s Tenon Tip Technology in which the ferrule has a tenon that fits inside of the carbon fiber core.

The G-Core’s carbon fiber starts at the tip and extends through the first 7 inches of the shaft. This gives it the accuracy and power benefits of a high-performance shaft, but with the familiar feel of a traditional all-maple shaft.

i-1 Big Boy Shaft Starting at $259

The i-1 Big Boy is the most powerful shaft in the Intimidator series. It uses a 13.25mm impregnated hard leather tip that holds contact with the cue ball longer than a phenolic tip. This makes the i-1 Big Boy ideal for breaking and jumping with extreme control.

What Makes a McDermott?

The Wood

McDermott hand selects only the finest woods from around the globe. The wood is aged for 18 to 24 months by alternately storing and machining each piece three times. This allows the perfect amount of moisture to escape, ensuring absolute straightness.

The Joint

McDermott’s signature 3/8”-10 wood-to-wood and patented Quick Release (QR) joints provide consistent surface contact throughout the cue, delivering maximum feel and the most solid hit in the industry.

Our cue construction process includes over 150 separate procedures. All forearms, handles and sleeves are handcrafted from the finest materials and most exotic woods from around the world. Our shafts are built with the finest Kiln-dried, hand-selected North American Hard rock maple and are turned 11 times for stability. McDermott cues come with a lifetime warranty against warpage and defects.

McDermott cues are hand-stained with our exclusive stain made from the finest pigments in the world. Superior to the synthetic stains generally used in the industry, it’s notable for uniform saturation of the wood and color consistency. Five coats of high-luster urethane protect the cue and enhance the color.

Tri-Core Construction Forearm

The forearm 1 is adorned with intricate inlays and rings using the finest materials and exotic woods from around the world. All of McDermott’s inlays and rings are precision milled to within .001”. Many McDermott cues are customizable with over 30 premium paint and stain choices. The cues are then finished with an ultraviolet electrostatic 5-coat urethane finish.

Handle

The Tri-Core butt is constructed using three separate pieces of wood that are hand-glued and screwed to promote straightness over the life of the cue. The tenon 2 and pin 3 technology provides optimal balance for the butt of the cue. A double-pressed and sealed Irish linen or premium leather wrap 5 is applied over the handle 4 to provide incredible comfort and moisture control.

Sleeve

The sleeve 7 slides over the handle tenon 6 to complete the Tri-Core butt construction. It is glued and secured by the butt plate and interchangeable weight bolt system 8 before being adorned with intricate inlays and rings to complement the design of the forearm. All McDermott cues are capped with a clover-embossed rubber bumper 10 to protect the butt plate 9 .

Patented Tip/Ferrule Technology

The tip features a “stinger” stem that projects downward through a hole in the center of the ferrule. On impact, the shock of the hit goes to the center of the tip and down the stinger stem, transmitting the impact directly to the center of the shaft. This results in a very efficient, precise hit.

Enormous Sweet Spot

The Stinger technology takes the hit energy to the center of the shaft, regardless of where you hit the tip. Our tip can be shaped flatter than a typical break cue’s tip. The flatter profile causes the Stinger tip to have a huge “sweet spot.” You can mishit and still get the result you intended.

McDermott Lifetime Warranty

McDermott’s Lifetime Warranty applies only to the original purchaser/ owner of the cue and must be purchased from an authorized McDermott dealer. McDermott Cue warrants its pool cues to be free of defects in material and workmanship, including warpage, for as long as the product is owned by the original purchaser/owner. McDermott does not warrant its product against: • normal wear and tear including tip, finish, and wrap • misuse, abuse or mishandling • modification or improper maintenance performed by third parties • damage caused by exposure to extreme temperature or humidity All warranty claims must include the complete cue and are subject to evaluation at our facility prior to approval. Products that do not qualify for the McDermott Lifetime Warranty can be serviced by McDermott for a fee. To obtain warranty service on a McDermott product, return the product to an authorized McDermott dealer or directly to McDermott along with a copy of your original sales receipt.
