E M

The year is before us.

What can we achieve this year by personal development and serving the Kingdom of God? Now that Christmas is over, holidays behind us, the kids are at scho ol and summer is (hopefully) running out of steam we can get focussed for the rest of the year. God has some exciting things in store for you in 2010. Perhaps they have already begun. If you set your sail to catch the wind of the Holy Spirit by having an attitude of expectation for the processes God is bringing to you, then you will not miss the opportunities, even when they do not come wrapped as blessings. I ask you make two commitments for this year: 1. I will grow as a person by letting God bring positive change to my life through people, circumstances and prayer. 2. I will do my best for the Kingdom of God by loving, serving, giving and going. If we are sincere in that commitment we will open the do or for God to move in and through our life with miraculous effect. My prayer is that at the end of 2010 you will not be the same as you finished 2009 because you have grown and become more involved in the Kingdom. I am excited by the possibilities that this year has for us as we walk together in God’s will. PAST OR ROB

NEWS/// Someone said just the other day , “the start

of a New Year can be a fresh new start.” In Care Cell this year we are again lo oking for ways to ‘Express Love: Create Hope: Give Life’. For one person alone this could be tough; but if we work together we can make the difference. To just one person on any Tuesday evening maybe the difference for them might be growing in the Lord at Care Cell, or to hundreds of people the difference made might be by giving them a fre e gift with LOVE at the clothing give away. I know that if we make ourselves available we can only imagine what our creative God will provide for us to put our hand to. So please, be praying for our year together in Care Cell. Bless You! Ps Jill

DON’T MISS THIS REGISTER NOW!

Children’s Ministry is off and r unning. KICK, Kings Kids, Teddy Bear Club, and Kids Care Cell are all in full swing with a dynamic team excited about God and your children. RE has yet to begin and we are lo oking for people to train to be a part of this very vital ministry. Patricia Haas children’s Pastor of Kings Lighthouse Worship says “I cannot imagine anything more fulfilling in life than to know that God the creator allowed myself to help mould a child into his likeness”. What a wonderful opportunity we have here at Mackay Christian Family to equip our children in the ways of God. If you would like to be a part of our wonderful team in any way don’t wait to be asked, step out, make your move to be a equipper to help mould children into Christ’s likeness and be a part of Transforming Mackay.

R.E GET INVOLVED. 12

Where is it that you heard about God’s saving grace? Was it at scho ol or was it later in life. I would presume that if it was later in life you would agre e with me that you would have liked to have known God as a child. It is well know that a large percentage of people come to know Christ as a child and that it is a much much lower percentage that come to know Christ as an adult. The do ors are open NOW in the scho ols to go in and tell the children about our wonderful savior. What are we doing. If you enjoy children you are most welcome to come and help and eventually if you cho ose to become a RE teacher. Make the step today, classes go for only ½ an hour, it is not much when you lo ok at eternity. Please come and talk to me.

COMPRIMISE

*RUTH. A WOMAN SPEAKING LIGHT TO THE DARKNESS// by Catrien Oosthuizen

Ruth has been working in missions since 2005 . She clearly remembers the first time she felt the call of mis-

sions on her life; Ruth was only thirte en years old. For some time she drifted away from God and the call God had on her life but in 1989 her passion and heart for missions grew stronger. It was at this time that she became involved in Mackay Christian Family and started to hear more about missions. Due to her desire to know more about missions and hunger to get involved, Ps Rob asked her to become the missions correspondent. Ruth started off with short term outreaches and then went on to doing missions training through Wycliffe. She had a real passion to help people hear and understand the Word of God in their own language. Through lots of prayer and hearing from God, she could se e how God was directing her path through placing a specific area on her heart and connecting her with specific people. Seven months later, Ruth

28

found herself in North Asia, working with Muslim ladies. Ruth’s every day in missions consists of studying languages and writing systems. This is the only way that she and her fellow missionaries can be in Northern Asia and have any opportunity to connect with the ethnic groups in the area. They focus on building relationships with fellow students and friends and pray that God will open the do ors for conversations about Him. It was such a privilege to hear Ruth’s heart and missions stories but I could not let her go without getting some advice for those of us who have a heart for missions to o! Ruth suggests that if you have a heart for missions, you ne ed to continue to se ek God to show you what area He is calling you to. It is also very important that you are prepared to get training; this may include Bible College. There are also a variety of missions organisations out there that you can get involved with and they can possibly connect you with a specific team. There is one way we can all get involved in missions that will cost us hardly anything! This is through PRAYER! Ruth says this is the most powerful thing we can do. If you cannot go yourself, pray for those who are in the field and the people they work with. Let’s not waste a moment, here are some prayer requests. • • • • • •

Pray that God will move in the hearts of the people, for Muslims to have visions of Jesus Christ. Pray that the open heaven over the central, northern area of Asia will widen - God can work through people. Pray for hunger of the people who are disillusioned with their own religious beliefs. Pray for the raising up of apostles, pastors, teachers and evangelists among the people; they can go in where Ruth and her team cannot. Pray that God will open the way for Ruth to get back. The last year has be en very stressful and tiring due to military control in the area. Pray for funding to get the Word of God in their language.
