The right care, right away CGH’s emergency services

N

o one plans to visit the emergency room (ER). It just happens—and usually when you least expect it. Chesterfield General Hospital’s (CGH) staff is ready in your time of need to treat injuries from minor wounds to life-threatening conditions. Our medical staff is trained to provide quality care supported by modern technology and diagnostic equipment. Our staff will listen, provide a thorough examination and prescribe a treatment plan that’s easy to understand.

Assess i ng t he s i t u a t i o n Our goal is to do our best to get you through the ER process as quickly as possible. When you arrive, a nurse will check your vital signs and ask about your symptoms, medical history, medications and any drug allergies. The nurse will also perform an initial evaluation to determine the severity of your condition. Our medical staff gives top priority to more severe and life-threatening conditions.

Followi ng u p When you’re discharged from our ER, we’ll make sure you have all the information necessary to continue your plan of care. Your physician or nurse will explain easy-to-read discharge instructions, arrange follow-up visits and discuss calling you after you return home. Meet our ER physicians • Timothy Holdredge, M.D., completed his medical degree and internal medicine residency at the Medical College of Georgia. He has been an emergency room physician for more than eight years. • Robert Moorehead Jr., M.D., attended medical school at the MUSC and completed fellowships in respiratory disease. He has more than 16 years of experience in internal medicine and pulmonary disease. • Reginald Parker, M.D., has more than 14 years of experience in emergency medicine and more than eight years of experience in family medicine. • Gabe Simpson, M.D., FAAEM, FACEP, is CGH’s ER medical director. Board certified in emergency medicine, he is a Fellow in the American Academy of Emergency Medicine and serves on the SC College of Emergency Physicians Board of Directors.

We meet your needs

A

n important part of providing you with quality care and service at Chesterfield General Hospital (CGH) is hourly rounding. We’re dedicated to anticipating your personal needs and actively monitoring your well-being on an hourly basis so your family and friends can help you focus on your recovery. During your stay at CGH, you’ll be visited by one of our caregivers at regular intervals throughout the day.

Hourl y r o u n d i ng When a caregiver comes to your room for hourly rounding, he or she will: • check on you and your well-being • monitor your comfort and pain level • help you move or change positions • assist with trips to the bathroom

Need a physician?

f you need a primary care or specialty physician to care for you, visit www.ChesterfieldGeneral.com

Your caregiver will also make sure you have easy access to your telephone, bedside table, eyeglasses, call button for assistance, bedpan, wastebasket, water or other beverages. If you have any questions or concerns during your stay at CGH, you can call on your nurse manager or the department charge nurse so they can respond immediately. You’ll also be visited by our operations staff to make sure everything in your room is working properly and your room conditions are safe, as patient safety is one of our top priorities. Administrative staff also participates in daily rounds to ensure all of your needs are met and to get your feedback on how we can continue to improve the care and services we offer.
