SPOTLIGHT STORIES Alumni Spotlight: Taking Care of Business! Judith (Judy) Dominguez-Ramirez, Arrupe Class of 2018

Meet Judy, a 2018 graduate of Arrupe College, and a 2020 graduate of Loyola University of Chicago where she earned a Bachlelor's of Business Administration in Information Systems. While at Arrupe, Judy served as the Speaker of the Senate and Business Senator in the Student Government of Arrupe College. She also co-founded the Arrupe Quinlan Mentoring Program, which builds greater connections between Arrupe students and the Quinlan School of Business. Judy started her career as an Arrupe Apprentice at Grant Thornton LLP. Since then, she has continued growing her role at Grant Thornton LLP, and was recently named IT Risk Experience Associate. Not only is Judy advancing her own career, but she is working on the Professional Development and Advancement Committee on the Arrupe Alumni College Board to develop career programming for fellow Arrupe alumni. Keep shining, Judy! Faculty and Staff Spotlight Dan L. Cochran, Ph.D. Clinical Assistant Professor, Literature and Writing

Dr. Chocran has been at Arrupe College since 2018. In addition to being an outstanding faculty member, he is also an advisor, chair for the Black Men for Success committee,

and a life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. "My most memorable experience at Arrupe must be the first graduation ceremony at last year," Cochran said. "These were the first students who I worked with as a full-time instructor, and it was good to see them from the beginning to the end of their Arrupe process. I met a lot of parents and heard some kind words with from parents and students. That experience left my heart full." One thing about Dr. Cochran that might surprise you is that he used to do music production in college. "I was able to write and produce my entire master’s thesis as a hiphop/performance poetry project in 2004. It was the first of its kind, but the university did not know how to handle sample clearances," said Cochran. "You are only able to find the written portion available in the archives." If given a spontaneous day off, he would "research music theory, work on music production, and sit on the back porch of our house with a spirited beverage listening to 70s soul music." Sounds like a great day, DC!
