Regarding the J-Board results, Page said that QPIRG is “dismayed and disturbed” by the ruling. The group has not yet released an official public response to the ruling. Petitioners Zach Newburgh and Brendan Steven stated in a press re lease that they are “satisfied” with the results o f the J-Board hearing. However, the decision cannot be fi nalized until it is ratified by SSM U ’s Board o f Directors (BoD ). In their press release, Newburgh and Ste ven call on the board to affirm the J-Board’s decision. “The integrity o f the SSM U ’s referendum process demands [the
decision’s ratification],” they said. “The SSM U cannot set a precedent, which allows referendum questions to stand when they do not provide members o f the SSM U with a clear choice when voting.” According to SSM U President M aggie Knight, the BoD will debate the ruling during their Mar. 1 meet ing, and the decision w ill be rati fied unless 4/5 o f the directors vote against it.
