Welcome to my latest 6 month Terrigal report. 2017 definitely saw some speculation surrounding whether or not our Central Coast market would see a softening due to reports of the Sydney market preparing for a correction. From our point of view, although some investors may have dropped out of being active due to toughening lending criteria, the owner occupier and holiday home buyers have still stayed strong and when matched with the right property have continued to act quickly and with confidence. We are very excited about 2018 and are expecting to see either a stabilising market or even incremental growth in certain pockets, including Terrigal and neighbouring suburbs as they sit as aspirational suburbs of the Central Coast. John McGrath recently shared some of the reasons he believes there will not be a major correction anytime soon. Population growth far outpaces new build, there is some $2.3 trillion in superannuation money looking for safe stable returns and with global trends making money relatively cheap, the likelihood of interest rates returning to their traditional levels in the near future is unlikely. So we are definitely approaching 2018 with great enthusiasm as we have great confidence that our wonderful Coast will continue to be appealing to buyers looking for stable returns, a beautiful holiday destination with great capital growth and most of all a wonderful place to call home.
