With over 26 years of experience and a respected member of the polo community, Andrew ‘Willo’ Williams is doing his part to raise the profile of this intriguing sport. One of the oldest sports in the world, polo dates back at least 2,000 years, with the first recorded match being played between the Persians and Turkomans in 600BC. Today, more than 77 countries play polo. The game was once primarily played by Royalty and later cavalry; today the sport has become more accessible and attracts a growing number of people, both as players and spectators.

Working from ‘Highfields’ at the foot of the Blue Mountains, Andrew Williams, one of Australia’s highest rated professional polo players, is doing his best to make polo a more accessible sport for all. Andrew has played in 14 countries around the world, twice been part of Australia’s World Cup Team captaining it in 2001. Having recently partnered with McGrath as captain and coach of our very own corporate team, Andrew is working his magic on our enthusiastic players who have enjoyed a series of games across NSW and QLD this year. “Every year the crowds are growing with more people wanting to learn the sport.
