Being the lead creative of a world class advertising agency isn’t enough for Adam Harriden. In his spare time he devotes his energy to a highly original visual art practice. Big ideas and non-traditional approaches are top of his agenda. From the blank wall to final product, Adam pushes boundaries about how we think about space and interiors. His website showcases mesmerising stop frame videos of his process. Before your eyes, Adam meditatively transforms foyers, shop interiors and frontof-house desks into psychedelic sites of colour, play and wonder. While he insists he has no fixed style, Adam’s ever evolving projects synthesize abstracted motifs and patterns derived from the natural world. Fish scales, bird feathers and tree leaves are just some of the references that spring to mind when looking at his work. Size, too, is of utmost importance - the bigger the better - and lately he’s taken an interest in domestic environments. Adam is always looking for a blank wall to let loose on and hopes to extend his practice to private commissions in people’s homes. It takes a brave person to open their home to a visual artist, but Adam believes that a relationship of trust and clear communication guarantees stunning results. You only have to look at his work designing shoes for Converse, installation pieces for MTV, and even a mural for Nevermind Nightclub to see what he’s capable of. Check it out.
