Bringing together a curated mix of luxury readyto-wear fashion and activewear labels, Symond has created an exciting new online store which defines the sports luxe leisurewear dress code that is attracting a global audience. Keeping active and looking good at the same time rarely goes hand-in-hand – just think dayglow spandex. But that shouldn’t be the case according to Deborah Symond, founder of Mode Sportif. Deborah completed an Arts Degree at the University of Sydney before following a traditional career path in fashion, which eventually led to a role in e-commerce. “That’s really when I feel in love with e-commerce and knew what I wanted to do and start my own online store,” she explains. Inspired by her own healthy lifestyle, she identified that there were people in the active space and people doing the leisure space, but no one really bringing that together globally. At the beginning of 2013 Deborah spent time travelling to research new brands, many of which she has now partnered with. Mode Sportif offers clothing, bags, shoes and accessories to women Deborah relates with. “She’s got a busy lifestyle and she loves to look good and be active, but she doesn’t want to compromise on her personal style,” she says. Since launch this year, they’ve had an amazing response with many customers coming from the US and Europe. “For us the online world is just booming, it’s a really great space to be in at the moment, it means fashion is global.” modesportif.com
