01 The Daydream Project,

Partner Megan Ehlert, Fall 2020

As a downtown extension of the Des Moines Art Center, The Daydream Project challenges the notion of the traditional art gallery, allowing for limitless of possibilities. It aims to bring in all types of visitors, even those who aren’t necessarily interested in art. The architecture allows for the curations to completely transform into something new and different than its predecessor.

Our drawing style is a hybrid of realism and sketchy elements. We did this style to express the versatility and impermanence qualities created within our architecture. Through the architecture, we allowed for surrealism to be brought to life, temporarily; for exhibitions of art and products within immersive experiences, where the boundaries of reality are blurred through the design of the architecture. We moved away from the common way to address an exhibition, less of a “set design” set up within an allotted space, and more of an immersive experience through each curation.

02 Art Center Wood Shop,

Student Internship, June 2019- Jan 2021

Completion of schematic design, and final construction documents for a wood shop addition to the Centre for Arts and Artists in Newton, Iowa, within the building’s second level warehouse. AutoCAD was extensively used to represent space, and indicate occupancy and egress, which in turn helped make executive decisions about the addition. Pictures show progress of hands-on construction participation.

03 Urban Relief,

Partner Maddie Uhl, Spring 2020

A housing complex project proposed for the historic Roosevelt Island in New York City. Offering co-living units, single-person retreat spaces, and a three story public wellness area, this housing project offers great opportunity for temporary tenants seeking meditative self renewal.
