The Laboratory of Conservation and Radical Exhibition This project re-imagines the afterlife of the largest and oldest water treatment plant in San Francisco to define a “New Monumentality” of the city. The treatment plant is located in the poorest and most marginalized neighborhood of in San Francisco. Through our proposal, the architectural phases of the cleansing process become a gestural and interactive exhibition, which communicate the severity of waste and pollution by arousing visitors’ sympathetic feelings. A constructed wetland connects the treatment plant to the Bay, as an additional step to the process, that also provides numerous additional environmental benefits. Along with educational purposes, the project houses a laboratory and solutions center, and provides thermal baths, open green space, and visibility to this industrial, marginalized area and the larger city of San Francisco.

The Daydream Project
As a downtown extension of the Des Moines Art Center, The Daydream Project challenges the notion of the traditional art gallery, allowing for limitless of possibilities. It aims to bring in all types of visitors, even those who aren’t necessarily interested in art. Through a scaffold facade and flexible interior systems, the architecture allows for the exhibitions to completely transform into something new and different than its predecessor.

SCSE Center: Sport, Climb, Skate, Entertainment
In response to a collective studio effort to improve and provide for the Sherman Hill neighborhood and greater Des Moines area, this project provides a sport and entertainment complex embedded into the topography. Located on the corner of the high-traffic intersection of Ingersoll and MLK, it welcomes visitors into the neighborhood, provides leisure to the residents of the city, and leads them to other programs across the site with the walkable green roof that emerges from the ground.

Urban Relief
Urban Relief is a housing project proposed for the historic Roosevelt Island in New York City. Offering co-living units, single-person retreat spaces, and a three story public wellness area, this complex offers great opportunity for temporary tenants seeking meditative self renewal. Ample light, air, and space were a central focus of the design, as these things are absent in most housing projects in high density cities like New York.
