Check that you have all tools and supplies. Remove the front wheel, right fork leg, and right fork guard. 1: CHECK ENCLOSED FORK STICKER TO DETERMINE THE DESIRED PRELOAD POSITION: In this kit you will find a sticker with hole patterns that will give you the option of mounting the locking button on your guard in three different positions. We recommend you do your own testing to arrive at the position that best suits your needs, conditions and starting surface. Shorter riders will benefit from pulling the front end down more than taller riders, although traction and dirt conditions must be taken into consideration. This is helpful if you race different tracks with various traction and starting pad conditions. You need to decide which preload position you want to use - here are some general guidelines. a. Slight - 65mm - Best for concrete starts, tall riders, or starts on loose dirt b. Medium - 80mm - Standard position for most riders and situations. c. Max - 95mm - Best for shorter riders, maximum compression.
AFTER SELECTING PRELOAD POSITION, CAREFULLY LAY OUT AND APPLY THE STICKER ON THE FORK GUARD: Peel off backing and place drilling template sticker on the fork guard. This template is designed for stock length forks. Make sure the centerline of the button is located between the two front fork guard mounting bolts.
ASSEMBLY HOLES DRILL OUT: Drill out the five small holes as marked on the template for the button assembly with 11/64” bit.
CENTER HOLE DRILL OUT: Drill out the center hole with the 1/2” spade bit. Be careful to keep hole centered. Remove sticker.
HOLE PREPARATION TO INSTALL THE BUTTON: Countersink the four outer holes from the backside of the fork guard. Be sure to countersink the hole just deep enough to ensure the head of the mounting screws will be flush with the surface. Do not go too deep!
TRIM EXCESS PLASTIC SHAVINGS AROUND HOLES: Clean and trim the excess plastic shavings for all of the drilled holes. Use a knife or fine file to clean up edges to permit holeshot button to pass through cleanly.
ATTACH THE PUSH BUTTON UNIT WITH 4 SCREWS: Use Lock tight to install the assembly button on fork guard with 4 Allen screws. Tighten the screws lightly at first, then go around and tighten each a little at a time until fully tight for proper seating. Be sure to run a finger over the screw heads to be sure they are flush.
SLIDE FORK TUBE HOOK BAND OVER TOP OF FORK: (*UNLESS USING AN OPEN TYPE CLAMP. IN WHICH CASE YOU WILL JUST NEED TO UNLATCH THE CLAMP) Place the fork hook band over the fork tube, with the hook catch facing up. Locate the band flush with the bottom of the upper fork tube. Tighten this lightly, as you will adjust its position later. The band will seat over the bottom of the outer fork tube.
REMOUNTING THE FORK GUARD, FORKS AND 10: CHECKING THE LAUNCH CONTROL FRONT WHEEL: Confirm that the Launch Control is mounted Replace the fork guard on the front fork, then properly by pulling down on the front fork and re-mount the forks and front wheel. After the forks pushing in the lock down button so that it seats into and wheel are properly tightened, line up the Holeshot the hook on the fork hook band. The unit will Button and hook band before tightening the hook band automatically release upon fork compression beyond screw. Do not over tighten this screw! The hook band the lockdown position. When riding, the unit will should line up with the Holeshot Button when the forks release when the brakes are applied firmly or if a bump are collapsed. is encountered that causes fork compression. The best way to engage the Launch control is to sit on the bike, lean over the bars and reach down, grabbing the front wheel with the left hand and pulling. This will compress the forks. Pull hard enough to allow the Holeshot Button to hook on the catch band when depressed. Push in the Holeshot Button and slowly release pressure holding the forks in a collapsed position and the Holeshot Button will seat in the catch band and hold the forks in this position.
